Hey Guys, As you can see, im new here, but im not completely new to the hardware world, im not a complete retard! (Well, not COMPLETELY anyway...) Anyways I better use the template to avoid being shouted at, so here goes: ======================================================= Budget: £600 inc. Tower + OS Main uses of intended build: Gaming, interwebs (forms), MSN. Parts required: Well everything. As you will see. Previous build information (list details of parts): 1GHz intel solo core, 2 GB DDR RAM, integrated graphics. Yeah, it cant run Word without lagging. Monitor resolution: Don't have one, but ill be getting a 20"-24" 1080p monitor. Storage requirements: Well I have a few indie games, Chrome, MSN, and Steam with enough room for games on steam (50-100 total) Will you be overclocking: Yes. Well I hope to when its needed. Any motherboard requirements: Well I would like it to have some features that will become useful in the future, like USB 3.0, multi gpu if possible. I want it to last for for quite a while. Extra information about desired system: Would prefer intel atm due to the bulldozers rumored to be not very good compared to intels higher end line-up. However if you choose AMD it needs to be AM3+ so i can upgrade. Needs to look sexy too Thanks
Put a quick build together on Scan. I couldn't get a good Intel system together for 600 but this AMD build is still really good. And it'll be upgradeable. Edit: You could probably squeeze a bigger power supply in case you want to go crossfire later on, I'll have a look in a minute. Edit again: Squeezed in an Antec TP 650, but it took you over budget by 25 quid, so I haven't linked it. Same build, so you could change the power supply yourself if you went for it.
This does not come with an aftermarket CPU cooler which is something you will want to consider if you ever do overclock. Also, if you ever did decide to go Crossfire you would need to improve the PSU. Also, sexy is subjective, so just pick a case in your budget that is "sexy". Preferably one that isn't gash! Also, if you make 20 (useful/productive/not spam) posts on here you will qualify for free postage. A lot of the products I've picked are on TOday Only (meaning they'll be more expensive normally) but pretty much all of these products (Certainly the CPU/Mobo etc) will be on TO every weekend.
Well done Zinfandel +rep I couldn't make an Intel based system in budget. But I would be wary of the LE motherboard, it doesn't have the power phases and things of the more expensive boards so overclocking may be a costly venture.
Yup, I wouldn't be concerned with a mild over clock, I've spent 10 years putting reasonable clocks on cheap boards and never had any problems but you wouldn't want to clock the nuts off of it. It will be fine with a decent clock though.
That is a nice build, you can save £5 by buying Windows from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-OEM-software-intended-builders/dp/B002NGJO4M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1315657320&sr=8-2
I considered that too but for some reason I have a massive averison to boards with a parallel port... And the extra RAM is what made me go for the build I went for in addition to the better and prettier (IMO) case.
Alot of that is personal preferance, the extra RAM isn't needed, but with it been so cheap it's hard not to recommend, but it all comes down to wheather or not they can really break £600 or not.
We really need to get over this you only need 4gb stuff. That might have been true when it was £40 a GB and the cost didn't warrant the benefit but there are clear performance benefits in 8gb over 4gb. Also, the One Hundred is a better case.
