Well you've certainly aced me so far, true_gamer, on 32-bit.

    We'll see who wins on 64-bit ;)

True_gamer you need to remove 8GB of ram to make it a fair test. Pigeon reduce your timmings, and make sure you are using geek bench version 2.3.3. I will not have this laptop being faster than a desktop business.

Having 4/8/16/32GB of RAM will not effect the scores. As the 32Bit test will only use up to 2GB of RAM. 64Bit doesn't use that much RAM either.

RAM speed and timings will have a very small impact on the overall scores. :)

He is using the same version as me as well. 2.3.4 :)

Your Memory speeds are higher at 2133MHz which if you compare mine and Pidgeon scores, with our 1600MHz 9 9 9 24 kits are pretty much performing the same. :)

Also, what setting are you disabling including in Task manager, and any others?

I haven't disabled anything in task manager. Just booted, downloaded geek and ran the free 32bit version..

Can you run your memory faster? What's the fastest your chip will go?

The voltage was set at what I run 4.5 on. (Was under load when I took that screen shot, idle is 32~)

Plus it is 3xc in the room I just benched that hence why I got these today:

Damn it seems so pointless having a massive PC now. :( At least I got water cooling, and a blue anodized case.

About glossy screens on laptop you can now buy what is basically a matte screen protector. So you can transform any glossy screen to a matte screen. You just need to get one bigger than your screen then just cut it to size. http://www.photodon.com/c/LCD-Protective-Films.html

Well, as powerful as this laptop is and clearly there is nothing much in the CPU difference.
My desktop is for gaming, and running this rig at the full speed it is capable of - its a considerable amount faster than a high end laptop.

    So not pointless imo

A top end laptop will only ever equate to a mid-high end desktop. BUT it's important to remember that mobile tech is truly the cutting edge, and all the power saving/optimisation tricks and techniques used to allow such power in a laptop form factor will continue to drive innovation and be scaled on desktop components.

Lest we forget, the Core 2 Duo (which changed the world of personal computing in 2006) was based on the older Pentium M architecture, and completely turned its back on the horror that was Pentium 4.

I think it was Highland3r back in the day with a Pentium M in CT-479 that was kicking us around the CPU benchmarks against 939 Athlon's and a like. Mind you my Athlon XP-M 2500 gave many machines a good run when clocked at 2.8GHz (high for those days)

Out with the old, and in with the new. 3 is better than 1 :D

Yep, so far seen 10C drop on the peak. Idle is about 2C drop. :)

But the real question is: is it enough to get to 4.5GHz?
