Hey all, I've just bought this KFA2 GTX 560 TI EX OC but after reading the latest CustomPC mag I read about this KFA2 GTX 560 EX OC and I'm wondering if I've just wasted over £20 buying the TI version of the card.. Reason why it says the 560 EX OC has clocks of, GPU 905MHz Shader 1810MHz 336 cores Where as the 560 TI EX OC has clocks of, GPU 835MHz Shader 1670MHz 384 cores So have I been an idiot or will the TI version actually be better due to the extra cores? Even though the clock speeds are lower on the supposedly better/more expensive card. Also bearing in mind I don't overclock components as I'd rather just use things at the speed they're set at when I buy them. EDIT: Just read on another website KFA used to be Galaxy which were a budget maker of graphics cards is that right? Worrying now that I've just spent all that money on a card that won't be as good as one from other manufacturers such as MSI, Asus etc.. Then another user on a forum said Sooooo whats true and what isn't my fellow bit-techers.
You're joking. With a monikor of EX OC (i.e. Extreme Overclock) they've o/c the core from 822 to a staggering 835. Woo, go steady there. I would've thought it'd be somewhere nearer 950 tbh.
the ti will be the better card, whether it's worth it is your opinion of value...cant imagine the ti won't oc to the same speeds...
The extra cores for £20 is well worth it in my eyes. And yea calling those speeds an 'EX OC' version of the card is ridiculous. But overclock it yourself and I'm sure It'll go well into the 900's
I agree i.e the clock speeds not being much higher than @stock! But I don't overclock anyway so my question is will it still be faster than the higher clocked 560 I linked to? What with the TI having 384 cores compared to just 336 cores for the standard 560.
560Ti should, in theory, perform better. But it's always going to swing around a bit due to the differing clocks. If you had something like the Ltd OC then you'd be golden, but otherwise: It's a bit hit and miss. KFA2 is, more or less, BFG bought up by Galaxy. They sell good cards in the UK. I'll happily reccomend my 550 to anyone with a budget of £140, simply because it overclocks like such a beast.
Probably. But if you overclock it, it will be a fair bit faster. Just d/l msi afterburner and stick the clock speeds straight away at the normal 560, 905/1810. It should do that without a sweat, thats all their is to overlocking ur GPU* *disclaimer: this is not true
Personally for £4 more I would have gone for the higher clocked MSI 560TI Twin Frozr but you should be able to clock that card upto the same clocks anyway.
Depends on how hard an Overclock you're going for. I suspect I could go faster with an upped Voltage Limit, but at the moment 1.15 V is my limit, so 1035, 2070 and 2500 is my limit for the moment.
Sorry, my post was in reference to the OP's above yours, you just speed posted before I'd hit submit! Edited for clarity
True but I actually bought it from CCL online though for £169.91 Inc VAT plus got free delivery with being a bit-tech member, same as if I'd have ordered from Scan though I'd have got free delivery but they want £180.67 Inc VAT for the same card. Will see how it goes anyway when it (hopefully) arrives tomorrow. I'm just hoping KFA aren't as budget a brand as I've read because if so I won't be happy! Lol. I've read conflicting reports some say KFA is high end others say otherwise so I don't really know what the general concensus is..
No lol, just did it for 'continuity' as they had both cards where as CCL only have the TI version so I thought rather than link to different websites I'd just link to SCAN. Anyway if anyone can shed any more light on what sort of brand KFA are I'd much appreciate it, i.e. are they classed as 'budget' or 'high end' etc these days?
if you had meant to order a microwave..yes mistake.. otherwise its only a mistake if you regret it, then you use that as a learning curve
I wouldn't class them as budget at all. I think, from what I've read they are essentially BFG rebranded and are owned by galaxy yes. They are UK based which could be a positive if you're in the UK and ever have to deal with RMA's. People on here have had good experience with their products. Like any company who designs their own aftermarket coolers, some cards will be good and some not so good, just look out for a few reviews on whatever you decide to buy. read this thread stolen from another thread:
