I haven't played it through yet, but my guess is that even if you're a gaming god you will see at least 30 hours' mission-based gameplay. The game is advertised to have 150 hours' content, though since that'll involve some quite repetitive play in different bits of the map it's not really 'play.' It's an open world, really, and most of the fun is to be had out there - so really you play until you get bored.
I get the impression there is more fun to be had in this game by just pissing about with the physics that actually playing the game, would that be fair comment?
The fun is taking different approaches to completing the missions, inventive use of the grapple for attaching enemies to gas cylinders and helicopters etc... Good game, just as the first one but more of everything.
I'd clocked up around 10 hours of gameplay and only done 3 missions yesterday. As the review says, the story is a pretty much pointless sidenote to justify itself really. It's more about the freedom to do what you please. I played the demo and just had so much fun trying to do more and more creative stuff with the objects around the place, i had to buy it. I like the wrecking ball idea, I've spent a lot of time sticking fire engines to the head and dragging it around. Not thought of using a 'copter to do it. Grappling cars to the ground in a pursuit is so much fun though. Best time to do it is in the tutorial type missions when the dude is driving, you are free to try and take out the military in more insane ways. Oh, and my best escape from the military so far, accidentally driving onto an airstrip with a bike as a plane was taking off, grappling it, getting in and flying off to safety.
Does the game run through steam? Just noticed theres achievements on steam, but its £5 more than places like play and game. I'm not really fussed, just curious.
It's been added to the Steam Retail CD list, so buy it wherever you like and it'll work on Steam. Play are doing a Special Edition for £2 less delivered than Steam, so I'd go for that personally.
Haha I just played that mission, and remembered what you said. Tried the ground, that was cool, then tried tying them to the armaco as we were going over the bridge and they all just sailed over the side. Trees work as well.
Only played the demo, but it''s just awesome fun so far. Not sure how long the appeal would last, more seems like the kind of game you drop into just to have random destructy fun rather than playing to complete it. The graphics do look rather sweet, but I'm going to shoot myself in the face if I ever hear the voice of "Bolo Santosi" again...
The aim assist is pretty heavy, and the key setup is all over the place. It probably is better with a pad but I've been playing it with keyboard and mouse because I found the controller a bit of a handful to get quick grapples off with.
Works well with the 360 controller (at least that console was useful for something!). I can't get enough of this game...still enjoying it...19% done now...
I might be being really stupid here but, How do I redeem my limited edition exclusive content. I've got the bit of paper with the code on. It says to login to GfWL Go to Marketplace redeem code etc etc. But JC2 doesn't use GfWL. I can see how this would work on xbox and PS3 versions, but how does it work on PC?
