Just opened a disturbing letter it had premium first on the front and normally I would have just thrown it away cause I get tons of junk mail trying to give me credit cards, etc. But this time I opened it and was shocked to see a final demand notice with my name and address on it and I don't know what the hell it is. It says outstanding balance of your insurance finance agreement, through gmi insurance services Ltd. I've never heard of these companys and don't have any finance with anyone. but my name and address is on the letter. What do I do is this a scam, if I call them in the morning there phone line is 7p a minute it says. How could they have my name and address. Is this identity fraud or just a cock up ? This is the site.....http://www.premiumfirst.co.uk/
check your credit reports.. it's free once a year here at least- see if there's anything out of the ordinary on it (there's 3 of them here).. someone might be parading around as you site looks like a scam tbh.. they get you to call and you'll see a big charge on your next phone bill how they got it.. possibly reach around from a cc you put into a monkey fetish site name and address is public- I wouldn't worry about it too much, but wouldn't call either- throw it away
Names and addresses (and lots of other consumer info) is readily available online. Just google "Sales Leads" and see how many companies are out there selling your data.
To me, at least, that screams scam. A legitimate financial institution is in the business of handling money, not trying to make profit from phone calls. (Usual disclaimer: I am not a debt scam / identity theft expert.)
Creation Consumer Finance: https://www.creationcf.com/ Sounds weird. Look into the company they say they represent - maybe you owe them money for some reason. Although, via whois, creationcf's domain was registered in 2007, and premiumfirst in 2001? A while back a collection agency contacted me about a debt I owed the local hospital. I was blindsided by this since the hospital never once contacted me about the debt, but after looking into it I discovered it was legitimate.
This. I can't count the number of "Final Notice!!!ZOMG111" letters I've received, all informing me that the manufacturer's warranty on my car was due to expire. If I didn't act fast, I might be taking my life into my hands. I also receive a number of letters informing my that my Homestead Exemption for my local taxes may not be filed correctly. All I have to do is send some money and everything will be taken care of. They all look quite official, and they almost always have billing information made to look as though I'm already a customer. It's only when I read the fine print that I discover that they are all third party companies trying to get sales. It's actually quite comical that most of them have the words "Final Warning" written in big yellow or red letters.
I found out a month ago that I owe the phone company over 500 bucks. but it went to a collection agency. it was from years ago. I fought for a week and finally proved that it was a mistake on their end. Bottom line, investigate your credit and see if you do owe someone money and talk to them about it.
