    motherboard: ECS K7VZA
    cpu: AMD Athlon 1GHZ 266BUS SOCKET A
    ram: 512mb PC133 Sdram (made by ak-byte)
    case: 230w psu
    hd space: 100gbs

My question is.. i hear those motherboards easy to overclock on, anyone here/know about that/them? I also wanted to know if my temporary psu of 230w will be enough until i get a new case? (i havent gotten the motherboard and cpu yet, i just ordered them today)

you should be able to set the speed in the BIOS, on mine i could set it to go or up to over 2 gig but i think that can wait till santa brings a water cooling system.
but you should be able to st yours up i the BIOS as i said.

i'm not sure if 230's going to be enough... esp if you have a hungry graphics card.... get an enermax 431 asap :)

I'd be really wary of only a 230 watt PSU. You need to get something bigger without delay!

ehehehe, when i posted that replay i had ordered everything but the case, and the case i was planning to use was 230w. I ordered a new case that will have 300w psu http://www.bassotech.com/cases/cs6005.htm

... Dont i have to unlock the chip first? I was reading all about that and i just dont wanna risk messing up a athlon 1ghz chip. My other question is: after i get all this stuff and put it together, when i get to where i have to put the heatsink on, do i just put the processor on the motherboard and clamp it down, then put the heatsink on? I read somewhere if the heatsink does not cover that little area on the center of the cpu that ur cpu will fry and this scares me.

CPU in the socket, Heatsink on that (Usually attatched to the clips on the edge of the socket). As for touching the Core of the CPU, a properly fitted heatsink should have no probs. Just make sure you use some Thermal compound such as Arctic Silver 2 to plug aby gaps and ensure perfect heat conductivity. This should just be spread thinly and evenly on the Core!;)

i'm not sure my athlon came inlocked when i got it, so i cant help with unlocking ihowever i did see a thread showing ho wto do it think it as in the hardwear secion. on your heatsink it should have a termal compound on it already it will be a square shape and usualy pink, this is basical a quite hard termal conducing paste, it gets squashed when you fix the heat sink to the chip and this causes the paste to spread out and take shape around your chip ie 'fill the gaps' so it has a good termal conduction as it a large surface area to transfer heat through.

hope that helps and any further questions just ask
