Need more multi threaded benchmarks to compare! 990x nearly doubled your score in Cinebench.:)

I refuse to but my Bargain basement setup into the equation. Except perhaps for laughs.

I'll benchmark a media PC if you run them on your rig. :)

Damnit. Fine. You'll get the equivilent performance for £300 worth of parts. (Seriously, that's all PSU, CPU, RAM and Mobo cost me)

haha, the PC I'll be testing has a Athlon x2 220 and cost <£150. You should be able to beat it without any problems.

However i'll be shamed miserably by those two. Ah well. SuperPi just finished. 17.987s for 1M calculations. I'll upload screenshots once I've got all the other benches done.

that superpi score is a lot slower than sandybridge stuff. i'm just over 7.2 secs, and 2600k's are hitting 6.5 secs. here's a nice simple multitasking bench for you all though.

Hrm. It just failed the Video Encoding and Multi-tasking tests in the CPC suite.

Anyway. Results! Results from an outdated, battered Phenom II 955 system!

With included Windows Performance Index Cheescake, just because I can!

Still think you should fold on that 990x chip mate. Such a waste all them love 5ghz cores!

At the moment the extent of my money is a 3" high pile of coppers, True_Gamer, I doubt I'd be able to afford it.

Just for giggles... and it's interesting to see how a unlocked 555be stacks up against a 955

It's basically the same chip. Just your temperature sensors work.

And damn you for getting it almost to 4Ghz without having to hit 1.575 vcore to pull it off.

The key thing I loose out in in all the tests is graphics performance, though. My GTS 250 is rather outdated. DX10 capable, yeah, but that's not exactly saying much when £80 can get you a 450 which will beat the absolute hell out of the 250.

    EDIT: Afore-mentioned Temperature Sensor Madness:

I'm quite shocked it got there tbh with such low voltages. The fact it booted into the os @ 4ghz with no extra volts really threw me. I distinctly remember thinking "Really?"

I'd like to get a Fenrir evo and see what that can squeeze out of it; for £30 odd it seems a bit of a steal. I'm in a similar penny pinching position as yourself. In fact, I was going to go the unlocking route myself on a 555, but got lucky when I went on Ebuyer and the 955 was £95 or something.

460 was a christmas present to myself!!! The best kind of present!

I'll go twos with you on a lottery ticket... we might win. Then we'll show him!

Edit. Those temps are pretty chilly:naughty:

Rofl. YOu must've gotten one of the "golden chips". Frustrating thing for me is that it'll actually bench at 1.525. Just it won't boot at that. Prime95 runs into no issues at that voltage, but games crash within seconds and the entire machine Blue-screens when that happens.

I suppose the key area where I win out against most people is the 1600 mhz RAM, not many people go above 1333 (We know true_gamer runs around on 2000+, but that's because he has too much money).

I still think an i7 2600K might give his machine a run for it's money, though.

Sometimes the way PCs behave confuse the hekk out of me. I here it's all about the intel burn test for stabililty... but somehow I just don't want to subject an AMD cpu to a intel torture test.

I can't believe how fast those sandybridge chips are... You just know when Ivybridge gets here we're going to be obsolete. Hell, they look pretty archaic now.

It's nice seeing the cinebench test though with the 955s close to a 920 as long as we absent mindedly let the stock clock thing slip. Damn you and your IPC to hell!
