I'm surprised how many people still use P2P programs like Kazaa to get things; programs like Kazaa are full of rubbish/fakes/malware/viruses/etc. BitTorrent has long since rendered old P2P programs obsolete in my opinion...not that I condone the use of any such programs to obtain anything illegally :worried:

I remember when i was a full time user of the old p2p, initially Napster, then Kazaa Lite and Kazaa then leading on to Ampster and now i use Limewire sometimes but its Bit Torrent for me now, the quality is great and there is very little malware and spyware on those networks.
But it goodbye to an old friend, well not friend, a friend who you need and they now it... dam Kazaa

Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis have had nothing to do with Kazaa since the end of 2001 when they sold it to Sharman in Australia. They won't be forking out a penny.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would not give a monkey or two for $115m no matter how deep their pockets were.

The MPAA have done the world a "favor". I used kazaa but only for a week a long time ago. Torrents are way better.

I applaud this action! This will force pirates to choose a better network and significantly dent spyware and viruses. Go Go Gadget RIAA

115M for what? For an old P2P program that like 30 people still actually use, where most of the files are viruses and anything but the stuff you want ( I downloaded a skateboarding video 4 years ago on Kazaa, and after waiting like 3 days on dial up, it turned out to be 20 year old Eddie Murphy stand-up, that had no sound!)

Hey he or she for got about Limewire. It may not be good for movies but songs. I think limewire beats all since you can download and it will tell you if there is a corruption in the file and if you dont want to continue downloading.

I agree, Limey (actually I use frostwire now, not sure of the difference :S ) is good for music because if you only want 1 song (which happens a lot for me) I can get that one song off limewire, but torrents only give you entire albums. Since I don't have the HDD room for dozens of full albums I don't want, limewire helps.

With some (most?) BT programs you can select which files out of the torrent you want to download. Of course it is still hard to find obscure songs and one offs, but as you already have it on CD you have to occasionally put the effort in yourself to convert it!!
