Every time I need to (or my daughter sneaks to) install something, there is no record of which downloaded files do what. This is also counting the temporary install files too.

Anybody out there have the same problem? If so, what do you do about it? I'm looking for suggestions that could help clean up my disk besides the windows option.

CCleaner is a wonderfull little bundle of joy. I tend to run it after big updates, large installs etc, as it helps rid the crap that installs and uninstalls leave behind. That would help with the cleaning.

As with the tracking, any AV or Anti-Spyware with an on-demand scanner will probably log any files that get installed, which could give you a rough record.

Create your daughter a separate XP profile with her name and her own password, then password your admin account as something separate. That way she has to ask you to install anything but she still keeps her own documents etc
