I took of my side panel, the one without a window, and all of a sudden my screen goes blue and I get this error: "Kernel_Data_inpage_error" I don't know what it means, and it also said it was beginning to dump physical memory..and I restarted, but I didn't do anything to the computer, just removed the side panel, could it be EM interference or something? Only thing I can think of because of removing a metal panel, my last one on my case without a window.
i dont think thats the reason. i could be wrong. ive been running my pc with no case for over 2 months
Well then I have no idea what it would be then, because all I did was detach it, and got the error instantly, do you know what the error means?
The error sounds like while you were removing the panel, the case shook a little, which would have been enough to piss off the components, and send bad data to the OS and hence cause a kernel error and crash it. Also factor in the fact that your using Windows and hence it crashes when it wants to, and you've got your answer.
Well then..I was trying to implement linux but I couldn't figure out how gave me a page with a bunch of files to put onto a cd so I could try it out...but no instructions lol, so my loss.
Try looking for the CD Iamge files, usually BIN/CUE, IMG, CCD, or ISO. What you were in was either an update directory (for upgrading) or a net install directory. Or perhaps something else, hard to say exactly. Most good distros give direct links and easy ways to downlaod the ISOs so you can burn them.
I think this is different than actually just installing it, its a version you can just boot off of the cd vs installing it because I didn't really want to deal with that if I didn't like it, so it was like a 'trial' version. I don't know if thats what you ment or not though..
Oh okay a Live CD. Yeha those are quite good, and becoming popular, which a good thing, gives people an easier way to try new alternatives. I've never used any of the Live CDs, but I would think they would make them into a nice ISO for ease, hmm.. I don't know, perhaps not. Ah well, that's why the Linux forums exist, the nexus of open source.
