Brilliant! +rep Looks like I'll be starting with blacks. I'm heavy handed when typing do I constantly bottom out regardless of tactile/clicky response and now I know why my friends keyboard does that. I though he had something trapped under the keys.
Blacks are the only main switch I've yet to try, some people say they tire out their fingers while typing, but I can' imagine them being that bad One of the good things about mechanical is they tend to keep value better than rubber dome boards due to the fact they just don't break
Really, blacks are closest in force to most rubber domes. MX black is ~60g while average domes fall around ~65-70g. Blacks were my first MX, so they are not a bad place to start if you like linear. If your like the force of you current board (what UK coin is 5g?) stack some coins on a key and find the weight, that should give you a good indication.
Well watch this space. I'm gonna try them first as I have a tendency to type so hard they can hear me through the floor downstairs plus I mainly will be gaming so the tiring out while typing shouldnt really be an issue
Maybe clears would be best for you. There are less boards commonly available with them, though some Cherry G80 and Leopold are not too hard to find in stock. They are the highest force MX switch available in commercial board at ~75g.
Yes, they have a somewhat similar feel to new smooth domes board, but you get that 50million keypress reliability and better overall build quality. So that's always something. It's still very good if you like heavier action.
They are definitely nicer but I am still loving how blues feel although they have made browns feel less special
It's the new mechanical keyboard thread! Bet the OP's confused now I have a BlackWidow (not ultimate) which I acquired BNIB for the 'pleasant' side of £40. The elitists will level plenty of criticisms no doubt, but if anyone can tell me a better way of acquiring 110 Cherry MX Blues arranged in a keyboard shape without raiding a bankrupt IT shop then let me know.
Yeah... browns. Well they are a good start, but so many people find them to be lacking in some way after try the others. I prefer red, then blue. Browns in the middle not being either way. They are neutral. Reds if you like it smoother than brown, blue if you like more tactility and the snaps don't grate. I got used Cherry G80-1800 for like $15... and it had 6KRO unlike the Razer... much better boards.

Just remember that these guys will try to convince you to spend loads because "the more you spend the longer it'll last". The same guys who buy a new keyboard every three weeks because they are addicted! No offence meant to tbe hardcore keyboard addicts, but you're all NUTS. Don't go changing though, Bit would be a lesser place without you all
In my opinion, if you wanted to, you could pick up any decent mechanical and use it for the rest of your life without issue most likely, it's not our fault that once you get started you just have to try more, it's a slippery slope, you have been warned
