How do you guys mod your keyboard with blue LEDs. I am only getting 1.9v to power the LEDs so im stuck with green, orange and red:(
    Any ideas?

Trust the force, and just stick in a blue LED. (If you are still skeptical, try it with your scroll lock first.) The voltage dropped across a working lit LED isn't necessarily fixed by the supply (the supply may be more like a current supply than a voltage supply).

I dont know much about EL wire, but would it be possible to put electroluminescent wire in the keyboard using power from the keyboard instead having an external power source like in the above example?

Most EL keyboard mod kits have an external power source, whice means they have cables coming out of the keyboard, but IMHO it doesnt look very good.

Yeah if you're using a USB keyboard you can feed off the 5V line - 5V inverters are hard to find though :(

    Cheers,

    r.
