I have got an old keyboard and cleaned it up ready to spray paint. Just wondering if anyone else has ever tried modding a keyboard? I have seen some pics of this done before and i thought it looked quite good really.

    thanx

Yeah I did that. I only painted the ouside not the keys (Sometimes I need to read them :p) Still looked pretty good though. Just rember the clear coat if you want it to last. Or even better use Vinyl dye. Oh and keep the keys and little rubber things in a bag so your mum doesn't hoover them up ;).

yea ive seen some keyboard mods b4 where they put blue neon string underneath the keys which looked pretty cool. The guy had to make some small channels to put the string in, but afterwards it looked sweet. :thumb:

Nope. Grab a bunch of dry-transfer letters and numbers from a hobby shop and you'll be able to put the letters back...

would that be the only way of doing it? BEcause there are keys that have very strange things on which would be quite hard to buy im sure in a transfere.

    thanx

Well, unless you did it by hand with a paintbrush or one of those paint markers. You might be able to use stickers, but they would probably come off after a while...

I put some neon string under my keys. It took a long time to do and looked really cool but a lot of the keys were hard to press and i tried cutting some channels and just ended up destroying a few keys so i decided it was not such a good idea....:sigh:

Well i am doing it with an old keyboard anyways, new ones i can get hold of for under £5 anyways so what i have decided to do is just put small square stickers over each of the letters on the keys. Im just doing to go ahead with it now and have a go. Ill take a pic and post it in about 60mins so you can see how well it turned out. I will also post a pic of the final thing once it has finished.

    thanx

I put EL wire under all of my keys and I have to say that it only took around half and hour but is not al that great. It would be much better if the keys were transparent.

Well here is what i have done so far. Although this is just a very basic test and about 1/2 the keys i have done need re-doing. It takes quite a while to do something as simple as painting keys. It can get very boring. Never-The-Less ill cary on, some other night, and get it finished. The top 6 keys from the right are all OK IMHO but the other need re-doing. Here is what i have got done in a while.

Any improvments i could make are welcomed.

    thanx
