Some times, about 40% of the times I turn my computer on, the beeping noise from the mobo is followed by a short "click". And when Windows boots up, the mouse is frozen and the keyboard doesn't work. The only thing to do is to restart the computer, and they work again. (Of course I do not go all the way to windows to find out that the mouse and keyboard don't work, when I hear the click, I restart the computer).
What is causing this problem? I've had this machine for three or four weeks now, but this problem has only been present the last week or so. I have an Abit NF7-S V2.0 with a fried fan header, and I use a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse.

i really don't have an answer but you can try using wired keyboard and mouse combo for a while. IF the keyboard and mouse works all the time then there might be something wrong with the wireless combo. IF for 40% of the time the wired keyboard and mouse still don't work then maybe its the mobo
    hope that might help

this *sometimes* happens with usb stuff, where it just fails to be detected. usual fix is just to switch the usb plugs about, forcing a detection

    I use PS/2 plugs :blah:
But I'll try a wired mouse and keyboard.
