Hi all hope somebody can help, this is really annoying me. I have just bought the Genius Slimstar Pro Multimedia keyboard, but im having some trouble with it. None of the multimedia keys except the "PC suspend" work (including "My Computer" and "Calculator"). There is the option to link the MM keys to exe files, the exe files themselves work, but when the key is pressed they do not load. Also for example if the "onscreen keyboard" (just a control panel of the physical MM keys, provided with the drivers) is activated it can control winamp, but the keyboard itself can not. A plug-in i have used in the past for winamp that has worked for me (Logitech_Multimedia_Keyboard_Plugin.exe from the winamp forums) allows me to press a button for a selected function to make it work and it displays the relevent ASCII code for that key. When i use this with the Slimstar Pro no key press is detected, could this mean the keyboard broken or a problem with the drivers? Im awaiting a reply from the manufacturer but thought id ask on here aswell incase somebody has had a similiar issue.

Surely the Logitech Multimedia plugin for winamp wouldn't be the best idea with a different keyboard? Try disabling it, MM keys generally work with everything.

The plug-in can be used with a lot of different types of MM keyboards (worked with my £2 wireless cheapy from Ebuyer), it works by reading the code for the button you press rather than a pre-programed one in its code. Un-installed it anyway to check, no differerene.

The plug-in detects the usual qwerty keys being pressed but not MM, thats why im thinking its a hardware problem, but just trying to tie up other possibilities.

Enable Global Hotkeys in Winamp preferences. Should get it working.

Just sent it back to the supplier to get it swapped. E:mail from manufacturer confrims its a hardware fault as the keys are mapped to generic windows multimedia keys. Thanks for the replies.
