Didn't read the whole thread, but I agree with the first post (apart from the clothing/shoes, as I know I for one look like a bum. Then again, I don't work anywhere that has a dress code and overall in Finland things seem to be more laid back)

Anyway I've come to the conclusion that roundabout at my birth year (late 80's), something happened and both parents and schools suddenly got too scared to discipline kids. In the mandatory defense forces service it really seemed like most people just hadn't figured by the time they turn 18-20 that sometimes you just HAVE to do stuff you don't want to, or like to. WHAT THE HELL? Also all the damn whining "why always me???" "I just did something" WHAT THE HELL?! So what, what do you think you're gaining by crying at the guy with the authority? Sheesh.

I really do appreciate my parents for growing me up somewhat "the old fashion way". It IS going to pay off at some stage, and to some degree it has already helped with my life.

Bottomline: "STFU and get the job done." I just hate it when "grown-ups" whine.

Granted, pretty much bugs me when anyone kicks off about it though I can tell you that... Well anyone about 18, at that point you're supposed to be mature enough to deal with that kinda thing. People just don't seem to be able to.

If until that age they've been able to get away with anything without any real consequences, why would they even bother trying? I do blame the parents/schools/society for the atmosphere that absolutely every form of discipline on kids is brutal, inhumane and wrong.

Do you realise that you're being overly sensitive for the sake of it again? With respect, i think you should go eat something with sugar in it.

While i don't necessarily agree with the age range BRAWL mentioned, it seems like "hip" parents these days are trying to be friends with their kids instead of teaching them about life. While that's a good thing in moderation, some people are losing the balance. Not shouting orders and not forcing them onto a certain carreer path is one thing, not teaching them how to take care of themselves is another. I've met so many girls my age who don't know the first thing about cooking... one of them is downright afraid of the stove. WTF? Whatever happened to helping mommy prepare lunch? Oh right, it was abandoned in favor of plopping the kid down in front of the TV to shut them up.

Aside from your clothes comments, I can relate to a lot of things you are saying. I would rather see someone in an unironed suit and unpolished shoes than Jogging bottoms and a track suit jacket.

I am 22, work full time as a web developer and do a pretty good job of it. We don't have a dresscode at work, so everyone wears what they want. But for the first 3 or 4 months I wore trousers, shirt and tie as I just assumed that is what was expected. I slowly phased it out and wear my civis 24/7 now.

I know people who used to be yobs and pretty violent, after somehow getting around to hanging around with my group of friends in secondary school and 6th, one of them got 4 As at A levels and is studying Law at Birmingham, he got rejected from Oxford because one of the A's was a retake after he originally got a B. Ironically they are doing better than other members of my group of friends who are working in super markets with no plans to change.

There have always been wasters and horrifically lazy people, but with the correct motivation and positive influence they can become a valued member of society.

So, the younger generation is shite because they all loaf about with unpolished shoes? I agree with Knuck. You either live in the worst place on Earth, or you're grossly overstating the problems you face on a daily basis.

I suppose it could be worse, I suppose. Those young kids could learn a bit of respect from their elders. They could learn how to undermine a political system and start at least two illegal wars to maintain control over oil. Those pesky kids could sit down and talk to their wise elders and learn how to polish their fancy shoes while they manipulate a poorly regulated economic system and end up plunging half the world into recession. And after that, they can all sit down for a nice civil tea while they get a lesson in how to brow beat each other with low-class remarks on syndicated television and radio shows.

Bottom line: You think the current generation is so bad that they're destroying the world, and as evidence you state offer the fact that they don't iron their shirts. You think they have bad manners and don't show any respect for anyone but themselves. You want to know where people learn all this civil disobedience? Turn on the TV and look at the adults who are supposed to be acting role models.

I still think you're overstating things, though. I look around and see some bad kids. I also see a whole lot of kids who act the same as I did at their age.

Why i love these forums, you can say stuff like that and people can see the truth and wisdom in it. Try saying that anywhere else and you will get branded a half mad lunatic who wants the free world to fall into chaos because after all we are fighting 2 wars to save our freedom and fight the war on terror!

On-topic however Brawl does have a point, i have had snotty little kids come up to me and use language that i would be shocked to hear from someone twice his age. Kids do seem to be getting worse, thou it could be down to me getting older...

You, get out of my thread trollcake.

Not all parents are bad, my parents always brought me up to look after myself... many parents however are the epitome of evil parenting, and it's caused such a issue with my generation -.-

Pardon me for daring to say things could be better in my country.

Honestly? At the age of 8-12 you managed to tell people "f*** off" and you'd smash car windscreens for the fun of it? By 18 you'd have two kids and laugh with your mates about how long you've been on "the dole"?

I think the common mistake I'm seeing here is the blame being heaped on these kids... they're a product of their environment.

You see parents who still want to act like teenagers and go out partying all the time... who substitute parenting with distraction... sit the kid in front of idiot box and then wonder why they take on talentless f*ckwits as role models (yes, I'm looking at you Ms.Price, Mrs Rooney and Mrs.Cole) and think that getting money and not having to work is easy... and this is fuelled by the Cowells of this world who promote this rubbish... for the thousands that queue up for auditions for Tw*t-Factor or whatever, one or two get the easy life...

When you're a kid surrounded by all this stuff and live with people who are supposed to set you an example, but are out on the p*ss all the time, who fight, fill you full of takeaways so they don't miss Britain's Got Talent and basically want you out of the way a lot of the time... then what chance have you got?

Where did i say all parents? :eyebrow: If anything, your post was closer to that, addressing parents between 35-50. Period, no more narrowing down added. Both my parents and yours belong in that category.

Sorry chap, didn't mean to come off nasty if I did (Trollbait ;P) was literally just flicking through insane numbers and my brain brok... ANYWAY.

Well, work as my experience parents between that age can be a bloody nightmare... Trust me... They're worse than the kids sometimes. It horrifies me to see why they are like that though!

Not everyone has a homelife or parents that shows them these behaivours. Many factors such as health, income and marital status can have a huge affect on thes 'kids'

My nephews are 19, 21 and 25 and through reasons that i will not disclose on an internet forum, their home life is not perfect. They dont have the best clothes, in fact, they couldnt even wash their clothes until i bought my sister a new washing machine for her bday!!

They dont have cool gadgets, or drive a car etc etc.

They havnt had hot running water for 2 weeks since their boiler broke and they cant afford to fix it.

Im not saying this applies to all youngsters that are not as motivated and independant as yourself, but please bear in mind that it is down to the parents to install these values that you rate so highly, and for one or many reasons.....not all kids get that upbringing.

I wish my nephews were more motivated and hardworking, they certainly could be if they tried. But no-one at home is setting this example for them, they are not getting that influence they need.

Its the children of the kids i feel sorry for..... (MIND ****)

Theres a group of teenage girls (16-19) and they always come in with there babys all teenage mothers all no jobs all come in and flash the cash on breakfasts

The most disgusting thing i heard someone say was "She has enough ****ing **** i want to get pissed this weekend so im leaving her at mums"
To which i assume the father replyed "Yeh going to get munted innit we'll get her some new clothes when we get the benefits"

I found it VERY VERY! hard not to turn round break his eye sockets take my foot ram it up his ass carve **** into his skull and deepfry him for breakfast

The poor kid would have probebly been better off without that useless pile of ****

Nah, it's cool, i'm used to your teasing :p

Have you considered switching to another line of work? I wouldn't want to keep doing a job that clearly irritates me, surely there's plenty more fish in the sea if you start looking. Recession seems to be drying up.

You have a good head on your shoulders.

Too much stupidity and dependency is being promoted in our society for it to be healthy, both in school and media.
