Can't really think of a way to source a switch that would fit without modding, sorry. But if you go down the replace route: Fractal Design Define XL R2 Similar simple design, similar dimensions (ok, its 3cm taller), 5.25" slots, can fit just about everything, relatively cheap and good quality. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/frac...-full-tower-case-titanium-grey-ca-027-fd.html
For ripping CD's you could go external USB drive (normally around £20 - Blu ray also available). Might open up more options for the case.
^ this. I got a tiny white external LG DVDRW so I could shrink my case size down. This one, in fact: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00UX3GJ36/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Works a treat and is super quiet.
That's what I do. After going high end on my head fi I got all fussy and decided I wanted all of my music as uncompressed WAV. So I got an external drive.
I see the issue is resolved but still wanted to toss my 2¢ in... On most cases the switch unit is typically a common electrical component with a custom cover. If you open the case up and find the actual switch unit you might be able to find the part manufacturer and or model number. A replacement can be sourced from a number of electronics parts supplies such as Digi-Key (if in North America). If unable to replace the the switch unit, cut out the the existing switch, patch as required and install a 3rd party switch, vandals being a popular option. If you don't feel like patching and painting them, simple install the new switch in a new location and abandon the old switch.
The only reason to use uncompressed WAV is if you're playing back on devices that don't support anything better. Lossless FLAC, APE, and TTA are all completely indistinguishable - and I'm talking scientifically, here, not "to your ears" - to the original audio but take up considerably less space.
Glad to hear it, I spent months ripping my CD collection to lossless FLAC, and would be upset if I had to do it again as I'd made a mistake on quality... APE and TTA are new to me
I rip to high-bitrate MP3, 'cos I've a tin ear anyway and my speakers are a set of Labtec 2.1s from the mid 1990s - no sense wasting drive space on something I'm not going to notice!
That's fair enough, GH. I'm glad I did rip to FLAC, as my wife then sold her entire CD collection on Ebay, so no second chance! That said, she's happy with the family Spotify account I have, (due to the squirrel gene), put my entire collection in storage boxes and refuse to get rid of them, as they are a 30 year journey though my musical listening life, and I like the physical discs and inserts. My car is MP3, so I can convert the FLACs down and still listen to a CD in the single CD slot there. Interestingly (?) the car has a PCMCIA slot for music media behind the flip up screen - odd for a 2011 product, SD cards have been a thing for a long time. Thank goodness for the USB socket in the glove compartment, otherwise, I'd have had to order some fiendish PCMCIA to SD/micro SD adaptor from China
I rip to WAV because it's the easiest (I use EAC) and the quickest really. Space isn't an issue, I don't hoard anything I don't listen to.
