    Hi guys...

As some of you will know I'm a student and as such live with many other equally lazy goodfornothings. We all share a BT adsl connection (all 6 of us) and have done so for a year, it works out pretty well and only costs us a fiver a month each - sweet!

Recently the goodfornothings next door decided to burrow through the wall so that we might network (really they just wanted to steal our internet while they waited for the losers at force9 to get their ADSL line up).

It worked fine until they finally did get their own connection. Now it seems that having 2 connections kinda confuses our pooters and I don't really know what to do about it.

    Our setup is like this:

I thought it was all ok, but the noob next door seems to think we are using his connection for our DNS stuff, and he likes to piss about with things and managed to b0rk a couple of machines in our house (not mine, im the ICS to our adsl so i always have connection ;) )

He thinks we all need to be on the same ip range as follows

    192.168.1.xx

I thought it didnt matter, but we tried setting a machine to 192.168.2.3 and it then could no longer see any network shares, so I guess it does.

He also thinks we all need to have manually set DNS servers, which would be those provided by BT for us, and force9 (hinet.net?) for him.

It's doin me nut in, so I thought I'd ask.

    Please help meh!

Is there a DHCP? If there is, make sure there is only ONE DHCP.

I suggest you have manually set IP addresses for all systems and above all, make sure you manually set the Gateways accordingly. BT systems need to have their gateway set to your ICS machine and force9 systems need their own gateways set. As for DNS, they should get that from their individual providers once the gateways are set.
