They do stutter if the PCIe bandwidth is used up when swapping too much data over it, usually due to not enough memory resources, but yes the memory manager is much more efficient than AMD's so they don't usually need as much GDDR.

Are we talking about RAM (System) or VRAM (Video RAM)?

My System uses 195MB VRAM for 2D Desktop.

And I will show my Usage, after a 5min game of BF3.

    EDIT:
    BF3 maxed out with 4xMSAA.
2GB of System memory was only needed to run BF3.
1850MB of VRAM was used whilst playing Campaign through the sewer level.

Whatever happened to triple buffering? I still use it through D3Doverrider, I didn't even realise it had gone when I had my 9800GTX+'s in SLI as it still worked through the control panel with them.

I made an executive decision under pressure. I wanted 3 or 6, they said 2 or 4 so I said ok.

I thought it had been established that even if an application says you "use" X amount of VRAM that there's a LOT more to VRAM usage than a simple number including the concept of how different architectures handle buffering, etc. If I remember correctly, the manufacturers stated that the numbers that we had were rather off, as well.

I know Bindi said something on the subject, and he did all of Bit's video card reviews until he left for ASUS Taiwan. They hired him for his video card expertise.

This isn't said to invalidate what was said before, but to possibly explain the choices fro Kepler's memory. I'm personally looking for something with large amounts of VRAM because I like high res texture packs. I've started selling off what I've got here so I can sock away money for something like a 580 3GB or something possibly better. So I'm technically in the same boat.

Because Nvidia hate multiples of 3 for memory?

Or perhaps it's because it's easier to cram either 512Mb modules or 1GB modules per memory controller. (Or 2x 256, 2x 512, if it is true DDR.) to hit those speeds. 768 & 384MB modules aren't available IIRC.

One thing not considered yet. Will EVGA give us a 680 with more VRAM? They did with other cards.

Most definitely, but maybe not for a while after they are released.

Could you test in Unreal please? I'm not sure that 1.5gb will be enough
