    my mum and dad payed about £1000 for the builders to move all the beams and make it safe to use as a room, then my dad covered the walls with plasterboard etc and did the rest, it aint that hard it is just the structural work which costs mucho $$$

    True, but materials are going to run quite a bit also. you will have to have the area properly framed out in order to put up sheetrock. but, if you are going to do the sheetrock yourself, just get in touch with me and I can give you some advice/pointers on who to hang, tape/float, etc., just let me know and I'll help you as much as I can. Sheetrock is pretty easy to do if you know a couple of the tricks to it.
