hello, ive nearly finished building my system with a Cheiftech Scorpio but i would much prefer water cooling my system. Because i dont know if i could do water cooling my self, i was thinking of getting a Koolance. would i need any extra stuff, or is the waterblock ect included ? i know its a shame to get one with a case already, its just that i wouldnt know where to mount the RAD and RES in a midi size case. im not very good with all this dremel stuff, lol. anyone got any ideas or suggestions. .icecube
I didn't have a clue about w/cing just over 7 mths ago and, like you, wanted to get into it! I'm just finishing off my kick-ass w/c rig at the moment after 4 months of planning, testing and avid reading of everything watercooling! I'm by no means even proficient compared to some of the members here but I might be able to offer a bit of noob advice from recent experience (couple of test rigs and now my nooo one!) (soz if I ramble a bit! ) In my opinion, getting a koolance is a quick solution (pun unintentional ) - it's comparatively easy but isn't that great performance. I would say build your own setup - do loads and loads of research and when you think you've done enough do some more! doing this will quickly let you decide exactly what you want the rig for (quiet or performance for example) and what bits you want to watercool - I chose just GPU and CPU cos of zalman heatsink on the northbridge..... for now at least ! Building a setup this way will outperform any koolance rig going... and YOU designed it. Plus you don't have to waste that case that you've spend 400hrs slicing with ya dremel! If you're not sure just ask around here and somone'll give you a hand! Get readin'! and good luck
i really am in a dilema, i want to do the rig my self but i just dont have the knoledge... i think im going to end up getting a koolance, its worth the money. if all i have to do is put the WB on, thats the best option. if i has a full towe case, with more space then doing the rig my self would be a better option. like i wouldnt know where to mount the rad or res. .icecube
ok two questions about koolance case: http://www.coolcasemods.com/info.php?id=220 is the water block for Socket A ? does it come with a PSU ? thanks, .icecube
umm, thats weired. CCM say its comes with a WB, and the review at toms hardware says it comes with one... .icecube
Icecube, before you hand over any money or cut holes in your case my advice it to stop. I dialema is never the time to do anything but think and plan. I would recommend that you read in detail this article http://www.voidyourwarranty.net/review/review.php3?r1=h2oguide/index.php3 Follow the links and read it well. Watercooling is not hard to do. There is nothing mystical about it, if you can put a computer together you can build a water system. Look at the waterbit on this article http://www.procooling.com/articles/html/cooling_technologies_explained.shtml Buy a Koolance because you do not want to build your own system and that it meets your needs. I prefer the swiftech premade jobby, but it does cost more. Money does not come easy, spend it the right way and not out of indisision. I am not trying to be patronising, but I want you to do the right things for the right reasons. If after all of the reading, that little voice says Koolance is right for you, then buy it.
right, thanks for that titch. also, from UK online stores, can you tell me the exsact parts to get ? ive been looking at places like tekheads, it seems that it will be more exspensive that the koolance its self. lol. would watercooling all fit in a midi sized scorpio. thanks, .icecube
OCS must be bein' wierd then! If you're gonna get a koolance don't get one from there then! I totally agree with Titch tho'. research pays off if only to stengthen your original decision! As far as fitiing a w/c system in a scorpio - check out Jess's coolharware server over at www.coolhardware.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5 It can be done with no too much trouble! Coolrunnin.
ive got the money, so i think ill be getting a Koolance from CCM. ill just put a duron 1.2 in my Cheiftech. simple as. thanks people, .icecube
