It's been debated before but I thought I'd bring it up again and see what people at Bit-tech think.

Basically, kids play too many games, a baby got neglected and died whilst a virtual baby was raised diligently, do games need a curfew if it's out of control?

My parents told me to get off the computer when I was a kid if I'd been on it too long, often making me go outstide.

Parents should do the same now.

Problem is, its the parents that are sitting in front of the computer too long in Korea. Quite a few people have died from starvation, exhaustion etc over there from playing too long.

Clearly they are a bit mad :(

Are they linked to your National Insurance number? In Korea they would be.

Yep, this is the problem exactly. Gaming in Korea/Japan is totally different to the west. It's as much for adults as it is for kids. The 2 famous death-by-gaming cases in Korea are by adults.

    case 1:

28 year old playing star craft

    case 2:

41 year old father, 25 year old mother

    case 3 (Chinaman):

In the west we blame parents for letting their kids get into bad states. Who the hell do we blame in Korea?!

There is something about the culture in the far east which seems to make them enjoy level grinding. Some MMO's from there that get released over here, actually have lower level caps because they know that here in the west we don't want to struggle endlessly trying to reach lvl 170. So instead we get a watered down 110 levels and it will still take the average gamer a year to get from level 0 to100. And only the most hardcore of players ever reaches the max level. Of course this is an example; not all games are that hard to level in..but a few are.

You ever go make a lvl 1 newb on the far eastern server and you will see higher level caps and loads of players with 100% maxed characters and equipment. The time they must put in just defies belief. So to my mind, if players are going die from gaming then it's gonna be from over there lol.

It's up to the parents how long their kids play video games, not the states.
