I was thinking about our good forumite friend, Kronos yesterday and realised I'd not seen a post from him for a while. Looks like he last posted publicly a month ago. Anyone heard from him?
He's gone from the look of it. Toward the end he would post threads asking for help etc and people either wouldn't reply or wouldn't know what to say and he took it as the forum being completely dead. IDK if something went off behind the scenes, or whether he just prefers the hustle and bustle of OCUK.
He wiped pretty much all of the data from his account then vanished. Shame really as I liked his post and wanted to see how his shed turned out. I reckon he still lurks from time to time.
Thanks fellas, having lost members permanently and not known for some time, I was worried he'd left unvolutarily
Cookie monster on the other hand got us to make it so his account doesn't work anymore so he can't come back.
Well, it takes all sorts. Some you win, some you lose... Still happy to be here. I feel welcome, and having met a handful of the fellas her in person, definitely feel part of it. I do post elsewhere, but come here every day
I'm curious what would keep more people active as we never get told. People just say they want to leave then that's it.
I think a part of that is "phase in life", TBH. I know when I joined, I was into "tech stuff" - nowadays I work with people more than tech, I don't own a PC anymore, etc. I stick around for the "conversation threads", since I quite enjoy some of the banter here, but my time spent here is less than it once was. That's not a bad thing in my books (obviously, site owners may want busier sites), just "life".
Yeah, the forum has done nothing wrong. From time to time the moderation can be a bit strong, but in fairness that has kinda resided lately. There's nothing wrong with this place IMO. It's just that people move on and go into different things. Then there is Facebook, which has pretty much managed to kill any BMX forum I used apart from one, and obviously people just getting bored and moving onto other fads etc.
Life gets in the way sometimes, that's why I was absent for a few yrs, but I always lurked when I could. As for Kronos, he'd ask for help, especially with his Oculus Rift. I gave him all the help and info he needed, even though he was watching YouTube videos from promoters, getting help from other forums, so he ended up with more problems than he started with, wasted more money than he needed too. So after trying to help him, I left it for a while as I gave up trying to help him due to him not listening. No one else posted as he was clearly frustrated and not taken my advice from the hands on experience I've got. So I pointed that out to him in the end, and helped get his Oculus running properly. Then there was a thread in "General" he commented on, and someone said something which must of offended him, and he left.
Aye I disappeared for quite a while when I went over to NZ, just because I was too busy really and didn't really do anything PC or internet based. Yeah, think Kronos got a bit miffed for whatever reason. Think it happens to us all at some point. It's just a thing that happens.
Never had an issue with the guy, laser cut some bits for him when he needed an adapter plate/shim. I did begin to feel that a lot of his posts could have been answered by using Google, but I get that asking on a forum potentially yields more useful results. I've seen a lot of the bigger names leave the forum over the years, I can't imagine it's anything personal just 'life changes', I've never really been a regular poster, only tending to post on threads that I can genuinely contribute to, I'm always lurking though. Oddly I read the articles more now than I ever used to so that's probably a good thing.
I remember him having a bit of a rant on a thread that there were so many views and yet no-one had responded. I mean I can get it can be frustrating that everyone looks and no-one answers but maybe no-one knows the solution and then there's no point posting otherwise you'll have a massive long thread of "I don't know, sorry" posts. There's a shed thread?
Now you've just said the funniest thing on here. Thanks btw, too kind, bit of a bitcoin in the post. That is how cryptotrade right?
