Modding Label-removing help

    How do you remove those fcking annoying labels on hard drives, etc? You can tear them off but they leave a paper/sticky residue behind... what product should i use to remove it? :wallbash:

    Ammonia based cleaners... nail polish remover, citrus stain remover, that sort of stuff.

    Isopropyl alcohol.

    Good for removing glue residue, thermal paste and fingerprints. :D

    uhh... i was using that but it didnt work very well... and it damages plastic :eeek:

    Really?

    Must of got a real booger of a sticker...i usually rip the sicker off take a small piece of sand paper...lightly scrape the paper, then use the goo gone on a sponge to remove the rest. If you're plastic is getting messed up try wetting the sponge. Trying to help! :D

    Just a side note , I didn't want to void the warr. on my WD 120Gb HD by removing the lable but it was going to be in the top of my case next to the window so I used that model airplane covering stuff that shrinks when heated ( Coverrite ? ) Got the chrome and covered the sticker and trimed the edge to the shape of a window in the HD , looks good ( black would make good window )

    hmm... i found out where to buy it in the UK... but strangely enuf, a yahoo shopping search reveals quite a few 3M products that im going to give a try... hmm wal-mart should have those...

    wal-mart is the ultimate modder's resource :dremel:
