How about render the ladies member names in pink or fuchsia ?
After all we are all blue (almost all) and blue is the color of guys..

ps This is not to be intended as sexist.

I doubt this is possible because there is no profile/database field defining sex, so it would be nearly impossible to differentiate between the two without manually editing each female member's name pink.

    Also, what's the point?

Actually I thought most member names were in black not blue?

Anyway, I wouldn't want to be a separate colour just because I'm a girl. Most of my posts have nothing whatsoever to do with me being female so I don't see why it should matter? I can only see this fuelling the trend for girls to turn up, post spam (and pictures) and have the younger boys here constantly drool at them.

I'd feel like if I posted a mod or something that people would be giving me special treatment, I'm so fed up with "that's good... for a girl" already without feeling like it's happening here at Bit-Tech!

Sorry for the rant there, just my opinion. ;)

Oh I see where you mean.

I'm not angry, that's why I put the smiley at the end :p

I am a girl, but I'm not very girly. This puts me in situations where I often get special treatment for being female. This is one of the few forums I post on where people know I'm female. Most places think I'm a geezer ;)

There's a long and short answer to this thread, I'm in lazy mood so I'll just say 'no'.

or if they didnt know before, they do now ;)

Tbh i see your point - too many posts have been done which are sexist or stupid or whatever cause some teenage lad cant keep it in his trowsers for more than 30 seconds. If people want to advertise their sex then let them do so, if not, then that's fine too.

    at my "friends".

I have to agreed that singling out girls in a listing wouldn't be a brilliant idea, not just because the entire site is blue and the dark blue browsing members names and rendered in doesn't stand out (pink does (c:), but because it could well scare off any girls here... it's so rare to find girls in a computer situe, especially one that is, in essence, geeky.
But I have to agree it is interesting to see how the ballance between the sexes is tipping. Especially as the world of geekdom comes out in to the real world, becomes accepted and is given a much needed can of deorderant. :D

    no, no, no, no, NO.

you'd have to be out of your mind, with all the rabid beasts that frequent these forums they'd be molested in a way unfit for reading.

not only is it a little too stereotypical to have them in pink, there's no reason to, there's a disproportionately lower level of female participation in subjects such as our as it is, there's no need to drive more away. I know some females online already just go by generic unisex names because of reactions they'd get.

And, I'd bet the first reaction new 'pink' people signing up would be questions about photos of them etc. Quite frankly some people in a large group of (predominantly) males can be bloody immature about such things. See things such as http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=69758

so that'll be a no then.

    Alaric.
