Okay well Me and my friend just hosted a "small" lan party.... And wow it was amazing! We used him moms house and she even joined in. We had about 15 pcs 4 xbox 360s and about 8 ps3s and like 2 wiis some psp players also. It was amazing. It costed ppl 5 bucks to get in and that paided for everything and then some Has anyone ever hosted a lan party?or been to one?
Been to 'one', as in it was a mates 20th.. There were 5 of us, all hooked up playing BF2.. That was a fun few games, but that was about it. Oh, almost forgot, we put a few thousand images of less 'decent' pr0n on his PC, and set his desktop as some rather interesting stuff... It wasn't really a LAN party tbh..more a drunk party with PCs. I want to have a decent LAN, but no one I know is really into gaming..
I've been to a few "lans". Mostly just my youth leader had a few PCs set up in his front room that a few of us would work away at when the main part of the night was done. First time I played Unreal Tournament was there, the first CoD too. Four people round one table, no better way Come to think of it that guy recommended Half Life to me as well...I owe him a lot What did you do for screenage? By my count that's about 27 you would have needed... Edit: forgot about the most recent one...two 360s, two cinema grade digital projectors...
I'm in university and we do a weekly LAN. Book the biggest lecture hall on campus, 9pm after classes and it goes until usually 3am, sometimes 6am. Generally it is about 60-80 people with laptops in the big tier'ed seating lecture hall, and two big projector screens in the front for consoles. If any of you guys are in university, I'd highly suggest that you go to the Dean or the Student Council or someone like that and see if you can get a bunch of your buddies together and start a LAN club. Ours started only within the past 5 years or so, by a couple of my older friends. They probably won't mind as long as you do it at night after the classes are over, and take good care of the room. You're creating an event that will interest a lot of students and provide a social environment without drugs or alcohol, so your school's administration will probably support you if you can convince them.
They have lans at our university as well. Or actually I think only one is held at the campus, others are somewhere else. Also some of my friends rent an old school building by a lake somewhere in the woods. I'm not so much of a lan-person. I DO get the rage and when I do, I'm not too social. Also many of these events are alcohol-free, which is a bit of a problem. The only computer-event I really go to is www.assembly.org.
I'm currently holding a lan in my house. Unfortunately, several couldn't make it but there's still 5 of us here. All pc gaming, unless someone wants to try my Wii. It's a good laugh and not taken too seriously.
when i was at uni i tried hard to find lan parties at the campus, but everyone i knew used consoles, tut tut! Shame.. Usually try to make it to my local event zombielan, pretty decent when i actually get there! lol!
no really, my first I series was i15 and for a while I was even staffing them before they became this monstrous corperate greed machine that appeals to the ****wits of modern society. honestly I always lol at amount of complaints at the end of each event. there are FAR FAR better events around the country then what multiplay offer.
I've never been to a big LAN (all too far away/up north) and don't know enough any hardcore PC gamers to be able to organise a small one I feel I've been missing out
I am part of a group that do 1 lan each semester over a weekend. Learning a lot of do's and dont's... Oh and you better have a puke tub ready after cola crashing!
at uni we tend to have one after the end of semester exams... the last one lasted 2 days (although we all went back to our own rooms for a few hours sleep at some point). Unfortunately all my mates have pretty crappy laptops and a couple of macbooks... have to go for old games like cs:s and serious sam. not complaining though
