    I work on a it help desk and a user has phoned thru a
    problem about lan settings, when she goes into
    Tools > internet options > Connections > LAN Settings
    the whole of the proxy server area is greyed out
    (including the check box-im not that thick)
    i have searched in regedit and have found the key

    [HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVers
    ion\Internet Settings]
    "ProxyEnable"=dword:00000000

    but this does not make a difference when set to 1.

    does anyone have any ideas?
    thanx for any help
    i have tried the microsoft forums with no luck please help!!!:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

    Try clicking on use automatic configuration script and put the proxy server address in it that instead. If that doesn't work in connections try setup and she should be able to put the proxy setting in there. Your a lot better than the helpdesk @ my place they wouldn't even know what the registry is.
