I should've gone to bed, but need to make a little more progress. It seems as though you either spend £40ish and get the new Silverstone or a 300 (which are billy basic inside and plain in the Antec's case), or you spend a bit more and get a HAF which is fugly and noisy (each to their own), or you spend the wrong side of £120 for either Lian-Li, an FT01 (going on the CPC review, not bit-tech) or CM 840. Where are the freaking "mid-range" options?! I want decent build, quietness and good cooling. I don't care about "gaming" features or gash looking nonsense. So, opinions....? EDIT: Hmmmm....... http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/22076-lancool-dragonlord-pc-k62-case-review.html
I've bought myself a Antec 300 and made some cheap noise-dampening modifications to it. Nothing on the market that can beat this for a 60$ pricetag (including the modifications) imho. The only option would be a Xigmatec Midgard @ 60$, but I didn't like the looks of it, and the Antec 300 got 2 120mm in the front.
What's your definition of midrange, in terms of price? Features like sound dampening generally only come on higher end models, that's why they're more expensive However if you don't want to go with the fugly 'gamer' cases, this or this would probably be more suitable (I have the latter of those and it's very quiet, especially with fans that come bundled with it).
I love my PC-K62, the LED's for the fans are easily removed, the only thing I hate is the window, but that will be fixed soon enough.
The P series don't have enough large fans for my liking. I like the 140s in the K62 and all the little Lian-Liesque touches. That Fractal is interesting though. Mid-range is the sub-£100 where the gamer cases sit. You've got cheap, or expensive. Most everything in the middle is gamer oriented or shash (or both).
