    Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a low end laptop just so I can do work and programming when I'm not at my main PC's. I'm looking to spend under £500 and the Acer TravelMate 2400 and Aspire 3610 series have caught my eye. Does anyone have any experiences with either of these models or just with Acer in general? Or does anyone have any better solutions? HDD space is not critical as this is purely for work.

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve.

edit: ebuyer seems to have the Acer Aspire 3613WLMi going for £488 inc VAT which seems pretty good for 512MB, 80GB HDD and 15.4" CrystalBrite display. I'm trying to find out if this model has 802.11b/g WLAN but I can't seem to find the part number LX.A7405.261 on the Acer website or on Google. Does anyone know if WLAN is included? (don't really trust the title on the ebuyer website).

All of the 3613WLMi's on this page come with 802.11b/g WLAN, so i'd say it does.

Thanks, but I ended up buying the Travelmate 2400 Series + memory upgrade. Seems awesome so far :)

Hey i just got a TM2413LM for £399 - comet, its pretty good, it only came with 256 ram though so ive added another GB and it didnt come with WLAN but ive just got a 108mbps mini pci wifi card, its sweet!

The reason im on this site is to find a tutorial fot opening my laptop so i can put the WLAN antenna under the keyboard!

£399 is pretty good for a highstreet store, maybe I should have waited and gone there! WLAN was a necessity for me though and it's nice to have it integrated, I don't think the 2413LM has the 1280*800 screen though either.

So far it's been pretty good, but I formatted it and removed the second partition on the day it arrived :)
