I'm in the market for a laptop, and I'm looking for some features which are seemingly impossible to satisfy:

    No larger than 15.4" widescreen.
Perferably with 1680x1050 resolution or more, but less is toleratable.
Able to play newer games (eg. 7800 etc.) I'm the kind of person who likes to max out FEAR.

And that's it. I'm hoping for around $1800-2000, but of course, the less the better.

    Any ideas?

No chance for such a high resolution in a 15.4" or smaller screen.

Alienware offered it. But if others don't, I'm fine with slightly lower resolutions.

Quite a few manufacturers offer WSXGA in a 15.4" screen, but they seem to be decreasing in availability.

Unfortunately I think the best graphics you'll find in a 15.4" chassis will be an 256MB X700 or 6600GT. You might find a 6800 if you're lucky.

They offer a 1680x1050 screen on the Peg650 range which is 15.4" which has a Go6600 or MRX700.

Dell used to offer 1920x1200 15.4" screens on the I8600 ??? That had a Mobility 9600.

You won't get anything good under 17"...
