Hey, I've run into a problem. I've got IR headers on my mobo, and require an IR interface so I can connect with my phone. Now, it seems that I've got an old laptop laying arround with an infared port on it.... Is it possable at all to hook this up into a jerry-rigged IR port? I'm not afraid of solder, so bring on your best!

Checked it, doesn't really help me suffice it to say. I've got cash flow in the negative, and I'm really wanting to use it for data transfer insted of a remote. As well, I've allready got a laptop laying arround with an infared port on it just awaiting carnage, so I'd rather have fun ripping it apart in the name of modding. Thanks just the same.

Erm odds are if u can get the IrDA complient transciever pair, its very straight forward to just hook that up to the IrDA header on your mobo.

Must be at least a few google of gides for this out there :)

If you can extract the device from the laptop you'll need to work out the 4 connections needed to be made with your motherboard. 5v, GND, TxD and RxD. If you can get any pictures of the ciruitry then I might be able to help.
