I'm looking at getting a laptop for uni, and I've realised I know next to nothing about laptop processors.

Anyone want to give me a run down, and comparison to the desktop lines?

AMD has no dual-core laptop processors correct?

How do they all rank up in terms of performance?

If it's for uni I suppose you'll be carrying it often?

Get something built around the centrino chipset, it's lightweight and has great battery life, and has plenty of power for the sort of things you'll use it for :)

Amd has their turion x2, mom just bought this laptop... the dual core cpu performs very well... The battery life is good, but on battery power the computer really loses performance.

bubsterboo if you install speedswitchxp (its free) you can tell it to max out when on battery or use mini when on power and you can change it when ever you want
