I am thinking og buying a realy old and cheap laptop, and taking it apart. With the laptop taken apart I want to take the screen and fix it to the side of my tower case. Once I have done that I want to connect the laptop up to the PC and make it so that the laptop screen displays the PC stats. So that I can check the stats of the pc by looking at the side of the case. Is this possible and does anyone have any ideas on how this would work. many thanks muzz
You could link them by network cable... Samurize can display stats from another PC on the network so running on the laptop it could display the stats from a Samurize instance running on the main PC... I think.
http://www.samurize.com/modules/news/ ive been looking in to it for me to do the same. it looks like it will do the job
i think he is more just looking to use just the LCD, i had an idea liek this myself, and i know i saw it done somwhere, but dont recall where. edit: sorry didnt read his whole post..... my fault
Bah [Autopilot mode because this question is asked way too much and no-one knows what a search button is ] There is no cheap/easy way to do this, it requires a special controler that costs over $100 and sometimes requires a special video card. If you really want to so this and have a bank account the size of bill gates, then use the search [/autopilot mode because this question is asked way too much and no-one knows what a search button is ]
you could use a program called vnc im not shure if that would do what you want but it works well for me when me and my friends run lans we have a server wih no screen etc so we use vnc and remote access it.
is there a way to make a laptop's lcd, keyboard, and mouse all be used to control a different computer through a network? i want to use a laptop to control my server so when im using my server i can just tuck the laptop away instead of having to hook up a monitor mouse and keyboard.
if you're willing to let it be 16 colors, 640 * 480 and have an old video card laying around, read this thread: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=51818
im not really willing to have it at 16 colours 640 * 480. id rather have it at its native res of 1024 * 768. ill see what i can do...
