    Hi,

my friend has a problem with his laptops screen. You can see the laptop working on the beneath photo:

As You can see the image is resized and does not cover all the space of the screen. There are two major effects, the black missing space on the right that is not being used and a blur strip under the windows start menu on which You can see mouse cursor that has been stretched.

Has any one expirienced something like this or know what is the reason of this problem?

    THX

have you tried the external vga output at rear to see if its same on a monitor ?, might be able to deduce if its a driver issue

looks like the kind of image you get if you set an incorrect ratio or refresh that the monitor doesn't support, all laptops I have used and tft's for that mattter seem to run 60hz

i would agree that this could be the problem but the thing that is strange is the blure strip undes windows start menu. This means that the image is not only resized but also corrupted :/ I don't know which to blame, the monitor, the drivers or maybe the vga card :/ I will tell my friend to check how the image looks on external monitor and will see

    E machine laptop black screen

I had a similar experience but it was with the desktop.
I have no idea why, it decided to act wiered.
In the end I removed the picture I had used, and went
for another screen saver and all was fine.
Mind you it took a while and a lot of freezing before
I could get rid of it.

Why did this happen? Anyone got any ideas?
Laptop is an E machine only 3 years old (ancient) lol.
