coorz indeed said it, I run my cdrw/dvd slim line drive on one of those adapters which cost ~7$ It was as simple as plugging the adapter which rests on the mini-ide connector and then plugging a standard ide cable and a floppy power cable into it

Yeah, and DO shop around for that adapter, shouldn't cost you more than $10. Unlike me who has paid big bucks for 2 of those adapters, damn you Mini-ITX :miffed:

However, keep in mind that there is no way to make laptop drives switch from Master to Slave by the simple tweak of a jumper. Most Laptop CD-Roms are Master by default. Some come as Slave. Some can be re-configured as either by re-flashing their firmware. Configuration tends to be done at the manufacturers, who then sell the drives with differing serial no.s: one for each config (Master, Slave, Cable Select) but sometimes you can get your hands on the software and do it yourself.

I either purchase my adapters on ebay or from http://www.idot.com ($7 each) and I unfortunately do not have any spares left to offer you.
Getting the drive at a reasonable price may prove more difficult and I recommend poking around on ebay to gather a list of specific drive model numbers.
If you have anyquestions concerning adapter compatibility with drives you find, just let me know.

Most of the drives I've come across are either in Cable Select mode or Slave. I have yet to come across any set to Master as default.
