At the moment I have two PC's conected through a router, the main PC connected to the internet through a USB ADSL modem.
This works fine, and have no plans to change anything.

I will be adding a laptop to the equation, and want it to have a wireless connection to the main PC which would also allow internet access.
I only want the lappy to be wireless.

What would be the easiest way to do this, just connect a wireless pc card to the lappy and one to the main pc run network setup and let them talk to each other ?
Or do I need to introduce a wireless router?

I'd say go down the wireless router option, although it might end up costing a bit more but would save you headache should PC1 ever go down and you needed to get on the net. Also why isn't the modem going straight to the router? (I'm sure you explained before maybe I missed it).

If you're going for a wireless router, may as well go the whole hog and get one with a built in modem.

Other than that, either plug a wap into the existing router or into a second nic on PC1 and set up an infrastructure or put a pci wifi card in pc1 and set up an ad-hoc connection.

Think you need new glasses -H- mate. The modem goes straight to PC1 :eyebrow:

As -H- edits his post quickly

The one thing I don't want is my main connection to the net being wireless, I want my main PC (PC1) to be hard wired (gaming, no lagg).

-H- the Modem goes directly into PC1

You could plug your PC1 and PC2 (and even the laptop) into a wireless router modem jobbie, they usually have four rj45 ports on the back. Et violin! no ping issues!

Apologies if it sounds like I'm sounding like an egg-sucking instructor for the elderly.

A wireless router and gateway would be the best option, but you could always have a proxy on pc1. But the least lag would occur if you connected directly to the router. But I don't think there would be much difference.

That sounds the jobbie, never tried wirless before, so never thought of wireless ADSL Modem/Router with rj45 ports, and a wireless pc card for the lappy.

    Thanks guys.

-H- the modem I have is USB, thats why it doesn't go straight into the router. The router was an ADSL modem router, but the modem part died, so just use it as a router and used the USB which came with my ISP.

Ah that's it. Reminds me why I hate modems which only give you one connection option. As mentioned about all in one jobbie is probably your best bet.
