Recently my pc finds even the most simplest of tasks such as typing this hard to do often freezing and taking minutes to complete. I suspected it needed a fresh instal of windows 7 however after a day it returned to the same place I started. I have run memory checks and virus scans they all check out so Im at a loss any ideas?

    thank you.

Question is when did it start? Was it a gradual slow down? If it happened all of a sudden then there's a problem thats need to be identified.

Give it a good clean up with something like CCleaner. Check if there are to many background processes running. Have a look in task manager to see how many are running. Might be worth running mem test to check the ram. Make sure the fans underneath aren't clogged it could be the CPU throtleing back to keep the temps under control.

Run a defragment and disk clean-up on all your drives.
Try uninstalling any software you installed directly prior to the computer slowing down.

Just note that computers slow down over time, this is the same with all of them.

The thing is I reinstalled windows 7 after formatting the disk so I think might be a hardware issue but I will give it a good hovering this afternoon see if that helps.

take a look at the cpu temperature with something like speedfan, also are the fans running fast all the time?

Well it froze again today and wouldn't boot so I tried installing windows again but the setup couldn't find a harddrive, the bios also simply state 500gb as the hardrive where it said toshiba before so I think I need a new harddrive am I right?

I was going to say it could be a buggered hard drive.

And peeps really need to read the post before replying, he already said that he reinstalled the operating system, so running cleaning utilities and defragging would be a waste of time.
