Hey guys, just wondering if laptops with built in 3g exists? I'm asking because I want internet access on a laptop but I don't want to be lumered with a dongle! Would you need to pay a fee to a network provider for the 3g service?

Thanks for the help guys :)

not sure you can get 3g laptops because the dongles are network specific arent they ?

so however you choose to go with on 3g congtract they will send u a dongle.

and yes a monthly fee is needed for 3g internet access and is usually so many Gb and very expensive charges if you go over.

There are some HP, Dell & Sony loptops with 3g built in. You just slide a sim card in to the slot.
They're not cheap though (usually on the £1000+ ultra light business machines)

It's not a laptop but I have just purchased a EeePC 1005HG/GO off ebay for £170. It doesn't seem to have any reviews yet though but I just took a chance as it was cheap and I only need it for studying online.

    It has;
    Full sized keyboard
    Bluetooth
    Wi-Fi b/g/n
Uses the Intel Atom HT N270(not great but does the job)
    1GB DDR2 800
    250GB HDD
Built in 3G through a HUAWEI E220 internal card(SIM required)
    Windows 7 Starter
Up to 10 hours battery life
    1024 x 600 32bit screen
    Built in Web-cam/video
    Built in microphone
    Realtek HD audio
    USB 2.0 x 3
    VGA out
    GBit LAN

The only thing that lets it down is the Intel mobile 945 chipset for GFX. It only scored 2.1 in the Windows 7 Experience Index.

For the price I'm very happy with it as I think it'll do everything I want it to.

Have you not got a mobile phone you can use as a modem via usb/bluetooth with any laptop?

Or perhaps a phone you can turn into a wifi access point?

I use my three pay and go via some of these methods, no problem so far, great speeds.

    Get a Dell Studio

Get a dell studio 1558 and put an unlocked 3G Card in it.

The laptop already has antennae and the SIM Slot built in, it just requires a 3G Card and SIM Card.

Depending On spec you can usually get one between 450 to 600 gbp
