Does anyone know anything about the hardware/software used for the displays in vegas where 10's of thousands of lightbulbs create displays?

From reading around, most of the lights are controlled via multiplexing and DMX-512 world lines.

yeah its basicly built in pannels, each pannel has (for example) 128x128 bulbs, control circutry and a micro, and all the pannels are hooked into a 386 (intel CPU) that talks to the DMX channels. each pannel has its own power hookup, so it is infinatly expandable (almost)
