A/V laser pointer mouse controller?

are there such things as a laser pointer that control the mouse? lets say you're giving a lecture and want to highlight text with a laser pointer.

Those seem to be slow with reg mice speed anti, but with a trackball i have it jacked up anyways, so that wouldn't matter, but for teachers or average joe would be a pain to change all the time.
