Haven't we seen this before.....I think we have...
and previously I think Tekheads were selling em...so what's going on now then ?
Yes, and no.
Laserbay is now a seperate company and Tekheads had the first batch from the same guys.. you'll notice now they're not selling them.
Have we seen them before? Yes, although I had a preproduction model which I modded to show off the LED chaser.
This one is the real deal now.
Looks a bit tacky IMO
They're a real aquired taste I think, not for everyone but nice 'in the flesh'.
a smaller 3 1/2" version would be great! maybe I someone should email them
Not to my taste but each to their own I suppose
Could you be temped with one cut into an Aluminium drive plate maybe Gordy?
I remember Tek saying that to make one in an alu bay would be expensive because of the wear on the machine tools.
The situation could have changed though if the company are making and selling them themselves.
Still think they look a bit naff though.
I don't like em that much either! I even have one! lol - I modded it the day got it!
If you guys have any suggestions as to what could make them better, post em up! I'm sure I can pass them on to the makers
have em in black with a different font! lol
In a Car?
I thought of doing something like this in a car, [GiB] Soul Fly's got a spare blanking plate in his Impreza. Let me at IT!!!!!
Did I mention we were going to i8 in it
Anyone for a chase, ?
You know it.
hehe I've got no bays left for it anyway , I just think there are more useful and better looking things to go in a bay , can you say newq
A decent milling cutter wouldn't be thwarted by alunium well 60xx grades might be a bit tougher but the wear factor should't enter too much into the equation. I was suprised however that they were cut in this way to be honest I thought that thewy would have been cut by a laser cutter would only take 60 secs and probly less than that just load the disc to the CNC and hit go probably 5-10 mins machine time per plate. Although this doesn't seem how they are done, perhaps it was just the name that made me think this way. Still I dont think that I would have one on my machine although I am working on a personal version as part of some borg stylee club gear, yes I am a sad sad man but hey who cares?
What do you know about machining? I'm looking for somebody to do some stuff for me
What did you want to know about machining I dont have the gear well not most of it anyway I sort of rely on people the company has dealings with sort of a trade of favours kind of thing. If you tell me what you want doing though I can probably tell you the best way to get it done and where to look for people to do it plus probable prices. The majority of mods can be done by the average Joe, it just takes care and patience, or failing that a damn big drill
Thanks - I emailed you
YGM 2 M8 happy reading
Looks kind of interesting. I agree it would look better with an aluminium front, but then so would most things. You do wonder when PC Mods or a similar company will catch on and start manufacturing anodised and non anodised covers (well surrounds and tray covers), the cost of manufacture can't be that high,
However I have an ancient PC with only the remnants of a case left from excessive upgrading, someday I might sort it... I might screw it all back together properly, connect up all the wires correctly, give it a quick clean and then put the cover back on the case chassis. Mind you by the time I get round to it I will probably have a new system!
PS - You can plug your PC straight into this
if you have the appropriate sound card that is!
