110! What a mad age to live to! Especially carrying round the memories of one of the worlds most bloody conflicts in our history.

Thought I'd share it as we're quite a respectful bunch when it comes to this stuff.

That must have been pretty grim. Living through two world wars, that is. Understandable that he became a pacifist!

Wow. Just wow, that must have been some sight.

It's a sad day, but, in some way only now can WWI be firmly planted in the annals of history and the whole world can truly move on and, hopefully, continue to learn.

They will all never be forgotten.

My great aunt is 110 this August, she's now the oldest woman in Scottland.

It seems amazing to thin these people were already 50 when the queen was coronated.

Yea, plus the fact they retired when my parents were teenagers! Imagine spending that much of your life just faffing around getting old... just wow. Respect to his achievements - I read his obituary on the train home. The BBC one is very well written with a fitting end.

Put it this way, I'm 30 years younger than my mum, who's 30 years younger than her father who's 30 years younger than said great aunt.

Enough happens in 30 years; I don't even know how much changes in 30 years and I'm still a long way off finding out.
