All this arguing about the 29" extra wides...it's all about 4k. At least it will if I have the cash for one when they release a 28"+ panel that isn't a TV.

I also got a £30 giftcard from work ( xmas bonus as such- last year it was a tin of chocolates and a bottle of wine so it's a nice step up ) so that helped lower the cost of the tripod

 

Oh god, not more 1200pix fans. 120 pixels makes no difference - if you really cared about the height you'd all have 1440/1600 displays.

Half way through season 4 of my DVD box set; it really is quite evident how low the DVD resolution is on a 1080p 24" monitor- not something I have ever honestly noticed when watching DVDs on a TV. I don't buy many DVDs though so not sure if making the jump to BluRay is worth it for me personally, but it's certainly worth it in terms of image quality improvement...

My wife bought me a Fujifilm S6800 camera, 16GB SDHC card and a carry case for Christmas.

I've just bought a Corsair M65 Mouse, Corsair K50 Raptor Keyboard (I'm not sure about mechanical keyboards) and a Roccat Alumic steel mouse pad.

 

The BD version of BSG is amazing - the DVD looks terrible in comparison. Plus the show itself is amazeballs.

 

Ikea Galant corner desk in black. It'll be quite nice to have a bit more room as the desk we have at the moment is tiny...

 

We bought a Galant desk with a small extension a few months back and it's awesome! I'd also advise grabbing one of their cable management racks to attach to the bottom, makes it look oh so much neater.

I just bought 2 precision screwdriver sets. Nothing fancy or special, just for the odd laptop repair / difficult place to reach with a regular full size screw driver.
6 piece skil set that are a few inches long, great for super small laptop screws.
14 piece mastercraft precision set that I wouldn't consider precision, but they are very slender and long, and a good "in between" size from a regular screw driver and the precision ones, making them good to have.

 

Logitech G500s in the PC World sale with some Christmas pennies. I'm well pleased.

 

Because of how impressed i am by the performance increases haswell gives me on my MBP, I decided to bring my Desktop up to date.

Just built an almost identical rig (see sig).

ProTip: To retain use of the optical drive bay with the H100i, mount your fans outside the top of the case, and the rad inside, using only the long fan screws to secure.

As for purchases, a 5.1 speaker set from Richer Sounds. Instead of one of those active sets from Creative, etc. I'm re-comissioning my old home cinema amp for 100W/channel goodness.

 

Amp & DAC to be ordered next year when the tax refund gets here. Until then I will use the surprisingly good headphone out on another recent purchase, the Pioneer P1-S stereo system.

Did I ever mention that I absolutely hate waiting? Headphones should arrive next week, but that just seems like way too long...

 

I've already accounted for that, I've setup my old bluray drive as a networked drive so that I can use it with my MBP as well
