I'd guess it's more likely coffee than angle or bench.

Not the grinder you may think, actually. I've got a modded Kitchenaid Artisan.

It's just an okay grinder in stock form, but with a stepless mod, a bit of tinkering so that it clears the grind chamber a bit better and a mod to accept mazzer burrs nothing short of stellar IMO.

I keep eyeing up the Mazzer Mini Electronic, Type A, shiny polished of course... I figured I'd give the current grinder a bit of a refresh though, since I noticed the burrs were no longer quite as sharp as they used to be. Hopefully it's enough to keep my upgrade-itis at bay for a bit longer...

I love those Zero guys. They are the only thing that stop be getting dehydrated riding my bike in the summer.

Oh nice - are they well-documented mods? I have a very old Gaggia grinder, very much like the current MDF range, which needs a bit of TLC to be honest (or replacement, I guess). The thing is, it matches my similarly old Gaggia machine which I have a) had for a long time; and b) love.

I've never even contemplated changing the burr in the Gaggia for something more substantial, but that's certainly got me thinking!

It's a very simple design, so quite easy to open it up and take the grind mechanism apart and tweak. I did the stepless mod before ever reading about it anywhere, but it's pretty popular. The burr swap needs a few holes drilling and tapping, since the stock burrs are 2 hole mounts and the Mazzer ones are 3x holes, but it's well worth doing, I've seen conversion kits too, which make it a little simpler. The stock burrs don't so much grind the beans as crush them, so espresso can be a little inconsistent and muddy. The Mazzer burrs are thicker than the stock burrs though, so the sweeps that clear the grind chamber need either extending, or the back of the grind chamber needs shimming out, either is fine.

The KA does have a few things going for it...
    - looks for starters, easily the highest WAF of any electric burr grinder out there
    - The motor speed is a leisurely 450rpm, so no risk of burning the beans
    - The bean to ground path is a whole couple of cm, and the design really limits places stale grinds can get caught
    - Hopper and basket are glass, so no static issues

It's not perfect though. I've read some reports that the outer burr can wobble quite a bit for an inconsistent grind, I've not had such an issue, but I do hold the dial firmly whilst grinding just in case. Grinding on-demand is a matter of guesswork as well, as there' no timer or anything of the sort. Experience has taught me to get the dose bang on most of the time by eyeballing it though.

The mods really put this grinder in a much higher weight class, hence the upgrade path for me skipping straight over mid-priced favourites like the Rocky in favour of the Mazzer, even then I'm concerned that I'll be deflated after the outlay.

Bought 2 used softball bats last night.

A 28 ounce Worth Legit Resmondo

A 27 ounce Miken Psycho SuperMax

Retail both are 299.99 plus tax new, he wanted 120 each, but since a lot of buyers fell through, he sold em both for 200. One needs to be re gripped, but they're in pretty good shape (he said 1 season of use on them).

I just have a £20,-- Hario Skelton/Kyocera ceramic coffee grinder. :p It's a simple hand crank, but it does a good job and you can get several mods for it.

I keep thinking I should actually pick up a Hario... most of my friends and colleagues end up asking me for coffee related advice, and the Hario is my go-to grinder recommendation because most people tend to leave it as an afterthought... i.e. "I've just spent £300 on this espresso machine, what grinder would you recommend for under £50..." :duh:

    All the coffee stuffs

I have a Hario compact, which I think is great. I think it takes a little longer to grind, but for the office its perfect.

It would really annoy me that the mask would be upside down when the screen is open.

Notice any difference compared to the regular 3DS XL? and how is the extra thumbstick/nub?
