Me too, but replace 'Raspberry Pi' with 'HP Bladesystem' and 'rack' with 'racks' :D

No really, I would love to build a Pi cluster as well. I'm sure I could find something to do with it ;)

Got a nice R9 295x2 coming on Monday or Tuesday. Mounting it in my Temjin will be fun.

I don't get it, is this some sort of widely accepted 'HP enterprise gear is crap' consensus that I'm oblivious to?

Cisco networking gear or their server hardware? I don't know if I have anything bad to say about networking gear from Cisco, but I might be brainwashed. HP sucks thou' :hehe:

I wouldn't go with anything but Cisco for switches, routers and other networking appliances, but my Proliant servers are brilliant, as are the many which are running my clients businesses. All right, maybe PowerEdge servers are better in some ways, but I don't understand why a 16 machine BladeSystem would be disposed of just because it's HP!

    Networking.

@Uni: It's hardware we inherited from buying out a company. Dell only shop so everything HP got replaced. In the end we closed the offices down hence the switches being binned - I have 600 laptops to prep for redeployment.

Ah, makes a lot more sense now! 600 laptops to rebuild? Out of interest what approach are you taking to achieve that?

Not sure what you mean by that but cleaning and testing is done by hand.
We have SSCM to deploy Windows so I can knock out about 60 systems a day.

That's what I meant, OS and app deployment; SCCM :)

That's a fair few to keep in check all right. I think C2k (the education network in Northern Ireland which I manage one site of) has upwards of 250,000 at the moment, spread over 1200 sites, which I thought was a lot. It runs on extremely customised platforms though, from image and application deployment to user provisioning and management. Nothing like an enterprise environment at all. I dread to imagine how much training engineers coming from the private sector to work on the C2KEN with CAPITA (who currently hold the contract for the entire C2k network) have to go through!

Look forward to the cleanest nose you've ever had, and then after a few months putting it in a drawer and forgetting about it :D
