Let us know what that router is like. Im looking to get away from my Homehub as its rubbish half the time, and im fed up of it needing an seperate ADSL modem,

Are you using a modem separate or do you just have a direct connection to your wall outlet?

Along the same sort of theme, this turned up for me today:

A Dell PowerEdge 2950 rackmount server. I had high hopes for it... until I realised that it only takes 2.5" drives and I only have 3.5" drives spare. Then I kicked myself for being a muppet and not reading the ebay listing properly...

And then I powered it up. I was prepared for noise, but I wasn't prepared for THIS MUCH NOISE.

Luckily, it seems it's quite easy to mod the fans just by adding an in-line resistor on the 12v lead.

well almost all servers have the best fans for cooling, they all seem to have delta fans and most generally have em running full pelt.

I should get my 2950 on friday and can see myself doing something about the fans or maybe adding a controller if thats possible

I've designed and built a model for Lego Ideas and needed to place a few orders for various parts, in addition to all the sets and parts I already own.

I'll be starting a thread here soon to spread the word, don't worry... :D

Yep, these are deltas too. I remember back in the day I had an overclocked dual processor P3 board and I strapped some 80mm delta "screamer" fans on top of the heatsinks - that was the loudest system I'd ever owned. Until now...

tbf there is a thermal management controller - the Baseboard Management Controller - and the fans do spin up & down as needed, but even the background idle level is too high to leave running 24x7. They're just not designed for use in a bedroom converted to a home office, they're designed to be used in a room where noise doesn't matter 'cos you can't hear squat over the air conditioning :).

But at ~£50 for what is still a fairly powerful machine I'm not going to complain too much.

I'm going to start by reading this from start to finish: http://www.ratzblog.com/2014/08/reducing-dell-poweredge-pe-295029002800.html. This video advises that 22ohm resistors are better because 47ohms drops fan power too much and can't properly cool the system, whereas 22ohm is a better compromise between noise & cooling. Though I don't know whether I'll need to reprogram the BMC firmware to lower the RPM thresholds, or if 22ohm doesn't cause problems. So I'd rather know how to reprogram the BMC anyway, just in case I need to.

New wheel hub and 3rd bottom ball joint within 3 months for my 407, should have replaced my hub sooner but was hoping it didn't need replacing.

Took my mum to a hospital appointment and then took her to find a new fridge freezer and dishwasher, left the curry's car park and heard a grinding noise and instantly knew something was wrong.

Got home and found that the bottom ball joint had fractured so £210 later got a new hub being delivered today and getting fitted on Sunday.

May I ask - what size/spec, what did you pay and from where?

I've just swapped the tyres on my car, but Wifey's is due soon as well.

    Pirelli P Zero Rosso 225/40 R18 Y (92) - £88.51 each, £177.02 total, fitted.

I used blackcircles, because I've used them before and it seemed easy enough. Being fitted at a local tyre fitter, so YMMV!

    Ouch!

I thought about the Nero GT's, but every time I've tried to get them they've been OOS when the time comes for fitting :/ Settled for the Rosso's in the end, but they were about the same (Within a few quid).
