Not much to look at, but then that's basically the point.

Ordered unheard on the basis of the reviews, and on the basis that I don't want a hulking great cube in the corner of the "civilised" lounge. Fingers crossed it plays nice with the hifi!

Used to have a Lamy 2k, ended up selling it as I didn't like it very much. I just thought it felt a little weird and platicky, the texture just didn't work for me. Plus the thing was a pain to fill at times thanks to the weird nib shape.

I'm very excited. I've never owned such a prestige set of cans before so it will be nice to finally make good use of my valve based DAC/amp :)

They should arrive on Monday :D

    Ohh, very nice!

I imagine you're planning to listen to music, but I'm curious to know if it's worth it for games as well.

P.S. I imagine you've got a nice amp to go with it as well?

I've got a half decent amp yeah. It's the Aune T1 MK2. I am going to switch out the valve to a Gold Lion? is it? as apparently it sounds a bit warmer. Not that I have any complaints whatsoever other than the fact that if you run it LINE you lose the valve pre stage :miffed: This wouldn't be an issue but I did notice in some games the DAC did not work properly.

I originally bought a set of half decent Beyers but they were faulty and I've since managed to save up for something better. I only paid £380 for the Grados and they are apparently brand new never opened.

We shall see on Monday :)

Grados are pretty warm anyway so you might end up not needing a valve swap.

True. If they are too bright though I will look into it. Apparently Tesla do a decent coil and it's only about a tenner. The gold legged ones are a bit more expensive (around £25) but nothing bank breaking. I wouldn't mind having a few to play with really, but I won't be buying the platinum one :hehe:

I recently (meaning a while ago but I'm only getting around to posting about it now) had to invest in another Drobo; a 5N which I filled with 5x 4TB WD Red disks. This makes an excellent combination, I really can't fault it. It's even better than the "old" Drobo FS which has been the primary backup of my most important data for the past 3 years. A sick RAID 5 array in my server put me under pressure to get a second large NAS and I'm really happy with the 5N.

Then on Friday I picked up a 4 bay Gen 3 with USB 3.0 from Anazon's Lightning deal with about £40 off, the intention being to combine the remaining 'JBOD' disks from my server into an array with some sort of redundancy in the Drobo. They're a mix of 2TB and 3TB WD Caviar Green, Samsung Spinpoint and Samsung Barracuda Green drives, so it'll end up being a lot smaller than the 5N, but will have the advantage of being much faster as it'll be connected directly to a workstation via USB 3 as opposed to being accessed over the network. I can write to the 5N at around 70-80MB/s so I'm hoping that the 4 bay will exceed 100MB/s via USB 3.

As I said, the FS and 5N have both been running and performing very well since day one, and the 4 bay arrived this morning... With a faulty power supply that won't run it properly! :(

It's going back to Amazon for a replacement straight away, and I'm sure there won't be a problem because Amazon's CS is second to none, but there wasn't much point in me sitting up late all weekend transferring everything from the JBOD onto the new 5N so I had the disks ready to load into the 4 bay this morning! :sigh:

I have one of these and an E5377. The latter is on EE now, the 5573 is on Three like yours by the looks of it. They're excellent devices. I would have been extremely unproductive over the past year or more without having one or both of them with me at all times.

Both for a small mATX HTPC I'm selling to a mate. Can't really sell it as a HTPC in good conscience without it having an HDMI connector, and the fan currently in there ruins what would otherwise be a fairly quiet machine.

This one however is for me: Sony HDR-CX240E camcorder. It's an entry level model sure, but it's miles better (and far more convenient) than the webcam I've been using. Hell of a lot of grain on the quick tests I just did, but I've got pretty poor lighting conditions in my office. Test footage I've seen is miles better than what I achieved, so it's just down to my crappy lighting.

I bought a 12GB, 12 month PAYG SIM from Three for £56 for it. I like having the flexibility of being able to take any tablet or even a laptop with me and know I'll be able to connect.

Is that 12GB per month for 12 months for £56? 3G or 4G? Sounds like a better deal than the £15/month for 15GB/month contract that I'm on at the moment!

Also I mistyped in that previous post, I meant to say the former is on EE; my E5377. Both are unlocked though so I can put any SIM in either one.

No, although it's 4G it's a maximum of 12GB for up to 12 month so if you use it in the first month then that's it. I only need occasional connectivity so it's fine for me.

    PAYG deal here
