I found a shop selling 1Kg bags of genuine Smarties, unfortunately it's in Sydney, Australia. Perhaps you should lobby Nestlé to sell them in the UK. Don't fancy your chances though...

I hope you made a point of getting all of them them from a brick-and-mortar shop for comedy value.

Maybe along with... a bottle of vodka, night nurse, some rope, and nothing else?

As long as it was with the £1 offer on "sharing" bags you often get in supermarkets the price wasn't terrible.
    £44 = 44 bags = 5.280Kg
So not in a totally different ball park compared with some of the bulk/wholesale prices mentioned above.

I found those, but each hexatube is 38g for a total of 1.824Kg of Smarties per box. I'd need two for a total of 3.65Kg to make the Beaver look reasonably full, which would be £40.22 plus shipping. If you're spending less than £200 ex. VAT with Hancocks, that's £20 for a total of £60.22, or £16.51 a kilo.

    I paid £42.93 delivered for 36 boxes of 120g, or 4.32Kg of Smarties. That's £9.94 a kilo.

*However,* if I had purchased the same boxes from Tesco right now I would have paid £36 plus delivery - although whether they would be able to fulfill an order of 36 boxes from my local store is questionable, and it would have been annoying if they'd substituted half of 'em with something else.

If it were up to me, the Beaver would be stocked with Peanut M&Ms, but the wife doesn't like peanuts and neither of us like the taste of the normal chocolate M&Ms. Going off-brand, just like the real operators, is the secret - but I didn't want to spend £20 on a 5Kg bag of no-name Chocolate Beans to find out they're made with that chocolate 'flavour' stuff that tastes like boot polish!
No to both questions, nor do I know where my nearest Makro is. When you do not drive, you do most of your shopping online rather than at out-of-the-way wholesale chains. Even if I did have a Makro card or know someone who could accompany me with one, any savings would be more than swallowed up by the cost of transportation to and from the store and in the value of my time spent physically visiting somewhere just to get 4Kg of Smarties.

You know the story about it costing Bill Gates more in lost earnings to pick up a bundle of $1,000 from the floor than it would be worth, and he should just walk on and ignore it? That, except a £20 (for the sake of argument) saving on Smarties and a two-hour shipping trip. It's just not worth it.

I just purchased the DCS: MiG-21bis mod by Leatherneck Simulations

    store clicky

This mod is a true work of love, I got to hear about it and noticed the importance of this work by listening to the 476th Podcast - Episode 5.

One of the mod team members is an actual jet fighter pilot of the Mig 21..

It's difficult to understand just how complex and complete this mod is, it is basically a rendered mig 21 system for system in a high quality digital combat simulator, like war thunder but real level for adults.

This is quality material for VR simulation,
Like assetto corsa but in the air, interesting missions and complete plane systems mean a lot of mental demand which will mean extreme end of spectrum peak VR gaming moments.

Interesting pod cast book marky.....Episode 5

Getting slips on my Logitech MX so have looked back to a unit I purchased and gave to some one for evaluation (but then they kept it).

Should be with me for Wednesday, looking forward to getting it in hand, huge battery life of some 2 months if memory is correct, that's pretty impressive.

Yup, 2 months sounds about right. I bought one for work as I am very particular about what mouse I use and the standard office issue one just weren't cutting it.

I love that I can pair it up with other devices, so I can have my workstation as 1, Android phone as 2, and iPad as 3, not that I really use 2 and 3 much but it is kinda cool.

I also have one of those, to replace a Performance MX that died on me.

As to my own purchases, a case for my Nexus 6P, a sleeve for my Pixel C and an RFID wallet.

After having my 2nd/LAN monitor potentially die on my after a fall I'm now considering getting something new, not sure if I want to go for something smallish but high refresh rate (120+) or something fun and big, possibly getting rid of my current U2711...

Yep, Leap v2. It's great, because I don't think about it. Kinda hard to explain - It wasn't a bolt from the blue, like some kind of "OMG this chair is soooo comfy" - I'm just more at ease and I don't fidget.

I also don't experience any discomfort from sitting in it for several hours, despite it not having a great deal of seat padding; proof that it's all about support and not cushions.

It is, without doubt, the best chair I have ever bought.
