Cool, I thought it was probably something along those lines. Understand that you don't want to give specifics, and I wasn't really asking for them, just a general indication :)

Did you make the same mistake I did, plug in the Sata power cable an wonder why the hell it was so loud?

But the brilliant idea though really discrete bar the blue logo.

The monitor arrived first thing this morning, and after a brief period of frustration wondering why my laptop wouldn't put out 4K@60hz (because the monitor is set to DP 1.1 out of the box... why, Philips??), I'm left wondering how I ever did without this many pixels.

The combination of size and resolution is a little overwhelming coming from a 27" 1440p... I'm using it at 125% until I get a bit more used to it!

That's awesome. I would even be fine with that. It doesn't need to be overtly professional, just not to be plastered with a competitor's logo. Sadly the dell logo doesn't lend well to any such horseplay :/

I'm actually quite happy showing off the 'Dell-ness' of my XPS13, purely so people can see its not a ****ing Mac.

I've no issues with the Dell-ness of it.

If you worked for, HP for example, it may be frowned upon to bring along to client meetings, or even better to have it sitting atop a podium, lid facing the audience, whilst you present at an event.

Lol yes, it gets a bit confusing, especially as it seems like some mobo fan headers aren't 'real' PWM headers.. *Shrugs*

Nice after the initial confusion though ;)

Despite being wrapped in nothing but bubble wrap, 'cos apparently electrostatic discharge ain't no thang, Mario Bros. works fine. Hooray!

I'm having a fun time dreaming up scenarios around how I'd justify my actions if such a piece turned up at my door :hehe:

Surely susceptibility to ESD is inversely proportional to Moore's law.

Bearings on one of the fans in the PC have started failing quite loudly, replacing both because OCD though OCD is now shouting at the other case fan :/

I have one shroud tried it and it make a very obvious noise difference so ordered a second one too.

    Two of these Noctua NF-14PWM

Sylvain Neuvel, Waking Gods. Both as paperback to read and as signed, numbered hardcover (first edition first print) to collect.

It helps that my wife is addicted to playing Dr. Mario on it!
Nah: the old EPROM chips these things use are massively ESD sensitive. Don't leave 'em out in sunlight, either.
It's a lovely thing. Had it years, after a Nintendo collector friend of mine left the country to go work at Spotify. Had to replace the main monitor 'cos it was kaput, then I've fixed the marquee light and coin mechanism, replaced the buttons and treated all the switches, replaced a 240V fan in the back (the failure of which was probably what killed the monitor in the first place), and added a NES cartridge adaptor so it plays original NES games as well as proper PlayChoice-10 games. It came with a full set of ten games, and I've been adding to it since then - and I've built a few bootleg boards, too, including Donkey Kong and Pac-Man.

That's a lot of fun! Like the twin screens
Even better that Mrs H has an arcade addiction; I had that problem in the 90s with my Mrs, who had to get rid of Tetris on her PC before it took over her life...

My LAN night host (Of there tonight ) bought a cabinet from an IT guy who'd accumulated a few, and this one was the most in need of attention.

It's a Street Fighter II Jamma cab with original monitor and innards.

After a rewire, TLC to the cabinet and some help from another LAN buddy who owns a sign shop - sorted the vinyl trim and marquee, it is resplendent in his games room.

Since then it's had new joysticks and switches on a remade deck, all good for 2 player and my old Core Duo (running a laptop CPU...) ITX board has become a MAME host on board. So, now we have MANY games to choose from and reminisce with.
I am particularly pleased, as it has Twin Eagle on it, which was my fave arcade game at university, and took a fair bit of my time and money back then :D

I'll see if I can grab a photo tonight to post

One Hello Kitty lamp, intended for use as a night light for my daughter.

Problem: Even dimmable E14 bulbs were too bright to be practical.

One brainwave, one sacrificed Philips LivingColors lamp and 30 mins later: Hue-lo Kitty:
