Thanks for the shout Zoon, thought I am in Ireland and I'm looking at the touch-screen variant. That is a nice price though (the deal one, that is) for anyone in the market for a 2-in-1.

Thanks for the early reply Gareth. I'm half torn between going with the cheaper Inspiron 17" 773 model and the XPS 15". The XPS comes in at essentially twice the price, but there is a whole lot of spec there.

In one of those "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is" moments I chose to ignore, purchased what purported to be a second hand Chord Mojo for next to nothing.

    To my surprise it

    A) Turned up
    B) Is indeed a Chord Mojo in the box
    C) Is in as-new condition
    D) Works

    Score.

    other things

I'm hoping to hack together a 100:1 gearbox, if these cogs don't do the trick, then i might have to purchase a 3d printer xDDDD, I dismantled a hand held screw driver and it had plastic cogs so i'm guessing they can handle a certain amount of torque

and the necromancer addon for Diablo 3 because seeing the necromancer build in the mod section reminded me how amazing the class is

Thanks for that. I need some really tiny ones and don't know the size so that's a good starting point.

No point trying to build gear box when you can't measure the RPM

Ah it's fine - why do you need to do it whilst on though? Just get yourself an arcade button, couple of du-pont connectors, and a couple of spade connectors. Wire it up and then drill a hole in the back of the casing, and insert the switch. I've seen quite a few versions of this mod on arcade fora/blogs.

    Bingo :thumb:

Akasa M.2 to PCI-E adaptor to test an NVMe drive before putting it up for sale - £12.49
Corsair Harpoon (manufacture refurbished) - £14.99
WD Black 1TB 7200RPM to immediately replace the slow 5400RPM that will come stock in my G3 next week - £63

Need to wait until the laptop arrives to see exactly what brand/timings RAM it comes with, hoping to be able to get a 2nd identical stick to go dual channel, but might have to get a matched kit. Once I swap out the storage for some faster options and upgrade/expand the RAM, it'll be tinkering time! Hoping to do some successful undervolting to maximise boost clocks, if that alone doesn't keep throttling under control, there's a decent video walk through to replace the stock TIM with liquid metal that has some good results.

Gah, I could have lent you one, as I have one unused in a drawer that I bought 'just in case'.
Ironically, I now own an mATX motherboard with 2 M.2 slots, which is pretty well specced for a cheap model.
What size NVMe M.2 out of interest?

I was going to put up a wanted thread, but for the sake of £12 it's one of those handy things to have around.

It's a 1TB Sammy 960 EVO - was in a works laptop that is all of about 3 weeks old, so should be pretty much 100% still. A lot of very nice storage, but way more than i'll need my machine, so I figure i'm better to offload it and get a 250GB M.2 and 1TB 2.5" HDD instead!

    Nice
I'd like a 1TB M.2, but it's hard to justify on my budget.
I'm thinking of a 500GB for internal extended storage and a 2.5" HDD in a USB 3 caddy for backups

Dell Inspiron 7577 - i7 7700HQ, 16GB DDR4, 4GB GTX 1050Ti. Brand new and unused. £680 posted after an offer was accepted on Ebay.

Looks like that G3 will be getting returned right away! An extra £80-90 for the Ti GPU, doubled RAM, better wireless card and slightly better chassis was too much to pass up on. Slight downgrade in screen space (i'm justifying it to myself by saying "but higher pixel density!") and whatever benefits the Coffeelake i5 offers over the Kabylake i7, but considering what I was going to pay for another 8GB DDR4 and a 9560 wi-fi card, i'm happy with the purchase :D

That was the exact Laptop I was looking for when I got £800 of vouchers from work from the Tech Scheme bonus I got for passing my probation. By the time I got the vouchers I couldn't get that model and had to settle for an Asus ROG i5 based laptop with half the RAM. Still a quick machine and since I got it I've hardly touched my main rig, enjoy your new toy :)

I got myself a new battery and power supply for my MacBook Pro, both were delivered today can at last carry a light weight machine with me to use at work :)

2 new Oil Filters (for the flush, and a new one)

5 hours of labour to get all that done.
